Lacie front button

My lacie disk is set to FAST mode, ik i try to change the mode by holding the front button and turning on my disc nothing happens. The front button doesn't make any clicking sound and looks like it is not straight in the middle. Is there any other way to change the mode or repair the button?

SOURCE: trouble seeing my lacie drive possible mounting issue

Not sure if this is the exact same issue, but I couldn't get the drive to mount with different connections, etc. The problem turned out to be the power adapter. If you've got the same kind of adapter on another drive, switch it out and see if your drive shows up. Good luck.

SOURCE: Computer will not boot with Lacie Desktop Hard Disk connected.

You can enter the bios on bootup by pressing a special key to force your computer to go into BIOS mode. What key this is varies by computer, often it is F8, F10, sometines F11. Anyway, use the key for your computer, and change to boot modus to not first boot from USB.

SOURCE: lacie external hd designed by f.a. porsch won't mount

I am sad to say that it's probable that this drive has failed. But if there is critical information on it, please unplug and discontinue use immediately.

You do stand a chance of recovering data if the drive has failed, but you lessen those chances as you continue to try to use it.

Definitely take this drive to a qualified repair outlet who can help with data recover if you need the information off of the drive.

SOURCE: trouble seeing my lacie drive possible mounting issue

Hello,

It sounds like the RAID controller in the LAcie drive may have failed. When this happens generally the data on the drive is left intact but you will require a new casing for the drives and the help of a data recovery pro to get the files off before you can re-initialize the set. Unfortunately all the good free/cheap utilities work only on single drives so you will need the help of a pro with high level software and additional equipment to retrieve the files.

If you are in North America I would recommend Armor-IT Data Recovery, they're listed in the FixYa service database for most US states. If you're outside North America, post your location and I will help you find an appropriate service.

I have a 1TB LaCie 2Big Quadra. It has 2 500GB and runs on RAID 1. I replaced both 500 GB LaCie drives with 1.5 TB LaCie drives, but my computer only recognizes the original 500 GB. I formatted both...

I have the same problem too on my 2big form lacie . If I use 2x 1,5 tera disk in "fast mode" or in "big mode" my disk manager only shows 746 gigs available (it should be at least 2,5 terra).
If I use "safe mode" so my system can see 1,3 tera available, wich is normal for a raid mirror configuration.
I hope to find a solution quickly.

Lacie 2 big does,nt boot

Hmmm, reseting worked on mine. Identical symptoms except light stayed blue, not red. Unable to power down.
Before trying to get the drive working I got the data off using the procedure in the second post of this thread:

http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/peripherals-hardware/126831-reseting-lacie-2big-network.html

You need a linux system running. Maybe a live cd will do. I installed on an old IDE drive I had.

I then rest the decive using this procedure from Lacie and my drive is working again. Worthless though, because I can't trust it.

The procedure below will reset the 2Big Network to factory settings:
IMPORTANT NOTE: Following the procedure below can ERASE ALL DATA on the drive. Prior to following these directions, verify important data is stored securely on a different storage device.
Switch the drive OFF. Once it has shut down, ensure the power switch remains in the OFF position.
If the drive is in the SAFE mode, move the RAID switch to the BIG mode.
PRESS AND HOLD the button on the front. MOVE the power switch to the ON position. The light on the front of the drive will start blinking.
Once the light stops blinking, RELEASE the front button.
When released, it will begin BLINKING AGAIN. When it stops, PRESS AND HOLD the front button. The light will begin to blink again.
When the light stops blinking, RELEASE the button. The drive is now resetting itself. Switch the RAID selector back to SAFE if desired.
To restore data if it was lost during the process, recreate the shares and users on the unit prior to the reset. Any firmware updates applied will need to be applied again.

I Have a 3rd gen ipod and its stuck on the lanuage

Try reseting it. If that does not resolve the issue, put it into disc mode and restore again. If these steps do not help please let me know.

Learning how to reset or restart your iPod:
Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step. Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.

I have an 80gb iPod Video, and it hangs up on the Apple logo. It won't show up on iTunes for 64bit Vista, the latest version, and only sometimes on my PC, OS Vista 64bit. Resetting it, restoring, and...

Silly question, have you tried the ipod on someone else's computer to ensure that it is for sure the ipod?
It does sound to me like your hard drive in the ipod has crashed. I would still try it though. I would even try putting it into disc mode while it is connected to power to see if that will work. If it does go into disc mode, restore it as before and let it charge over night or for about six to eight hours. Then after that if it still does not work while not connected to power you simply need a new battery. If not its the hard drive. Below i've posted a step by step on putting an ipod into disc mode just in case you need it. :)

try putting the ipod into disc mode before connecting it to your computer to restore. Just in case you are unsure on how to put an ipod into disc mode, I have posted step by step instructions below. This is the only other option to restore the ipod and not need it repaired or replaced.
I hope it works for you :)

My mini ipod freezing, showing charger sign i could not turn it to menu

I would attempt putting the ipod into disc mode and see if your ipod is recognized by the computer after you reconnect it. I have researched this issue and found a knowledge base article on apples web site that may help you out with this.
Here are the steps to do it...

Putting iPods with a Click Wheel into disk mode
  1. Before placing the iPod into disk mode, you should verify that it is charged.
  2. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  3. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.ht1363_2.jpg
  5. Connect the iPod to your computer; the screen on the iPod will change and say "Do not disconnect"
If you are having difficulty putting the iPod model into disk mode, set it on a flat surface. Make sure that the finger pressing the Select button is not touching the Click Wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Play/Pause button toward the outside of the Click Wheel and not near the center.
If you are still unable to put your iPod with a Click Wheel into Disk Mode, use one finger from one hand to press the Select button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Play/Pause button.

If it won't go into disc mode while not connected to your computer, try doing the above steps with it already connected to you computer.
If none of these steps work, it is sadly probably time to get a new ipod. I hope that it does help you out though. Good luck :)
