Cdr tray/door won't open

I can't get the cdr door to open

Posted by benjammin on

  • rmarchetti Nov 06, 2007

    The message on both sides reads "locked". The left side 3-disc can be pulled out, but the right burn side will not open. I can pull down the right front flap door and see tray. I have tried several times to unplug and restart and press various buttons, but the locked mesage stays on and neither tray will open.

'Locked' is a dealer lock function to stop browesers nicking the cd's from the tray. Hold the open/close button and stop button whilst powering up to disable.

You may see a very little hole under the cdr door. insert there a slim straight not bent wire???(bad english...) and try gently to push it inside.this will push a mechanism that will open the door. :)

Hi....
Are there small round access holes in the underside of the player (usually with a turn symbol near it)?
Most mfgs put "panic holes" under the unit to get out stuck CDs when the thing wont work right
Also,how old is the unit?
Do you use it alot??

Dell cd drive door won't open

CD/DVD Drive Tray problems
There are two ways to open the CD/DVD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD/DVD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drive tray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive tray pops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CD/DVD disc.
If you still having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and needs replacing.

Tascam CDR-W5000 CD Recorder won't open the tray (drawer). Please help!

This could be a bad belt or a defective end sense switch. The parts are no longer available I am told for this unit by New Jersey Factory Service where the could be fixed. This is one of the older models.

CD DOOR WON'T OPEN

Just below the CD/DVD tray there is a tiny hole. Insert a straighten paper clip in this hole and gently push the paper clip until the CD/DVD tray pops out. You can now pull the tray out until it is in the fully opened position to remove the disc.
Try pushing the eject button to see if the tray closes, then push the eject button to see if the tray opens.
If this foes not work then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and it needs to be replaced.

Recording trouble

Hi again,

I understand. Must be a glitch somewhere. Anyways, I already posted possible solutions here your original posting/problem. They were:
1. Power on the Philips FW-R7, leave the left tray empty and closed. Open the tray and put in a recorded CD (not a CDR but a regular CD from your music collection), close the right tray. Wait a couple of seconds as the FW-R7 reads the CD. Now open the tray, remove the music CD and insert your CDR. The FW-R7 should read the CDR without the error message and record to the CDR from any source. Let me know if this works for you;
2. laser cleaning or realignment (would need a service center);
3. try using lower then 40X blank CDs.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Harman kardon CDR 26 cd recorder

It's the belt from the spindle motor to the gear. It's worn and can't grip the spindle anymore. If you elp it to start off it works. Open the unit, remove the cd tray and it's underneath at the front. You can replace with a similar size elastic band.
