Ice dispenser on ge side by side GSS221FRFWW

Hello, we purchased our side by side May 19, 2006 and it has worked well until this past Monday. It still makes ice, you can still get cold water from the door, but the ice dispensers no longer work (the ones on the outside of the door) A repair man said it sounded like it needed a new "board"??? and that might still be under warranty, but GE says "NO". Wish you could tell me a simple, cheap something to do. Thank you.

IF IT IS THE BORDAS, AS ON MY KENMORE BY WHIRLPOOL THERE ARE 2 BOARDS ON THE FRONT WALLS OF THE FREEZER , REMOVE THE SCREWS AND UNPLUG THE BOARDS ONE IS A SENDER THE OTHER A RECEIVER. SERS WANTS over $200.00 i ordered over the net for $40.00 for the set.

Ice maker in our GE profile refrigerator is not working

Ice maker Diagnostic Test:

- Remove the ice bucket
-Turn the ice maker off, wait 15 seconds than turn it back on
-Press the ice paddle three times, this will begin diagnostic test.
-PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH ICE MAKER DURING DIAGNOSTICS

-In 3 minutes you should see the rack inside turn 360 degrees
-AND the ice maker bowl should fill with water

-IF either DID NOT work, call 1-800-GE-CARES for ice maker replacement. A service call is approx $80. The $80 will be deducted from the part/labor if you choose to purchase/install parts from the service technician. If not, you will pay for the service call. Good luck.

GE PSS26GRE SS not dispensing ice

Hi,
The first step you need to do is to turn the water off to the refrigerator so it quits making until you get it fixed.
If your fridge has the control boards in each side of the freezer cabinet that controls the icemaker, then you have a failed board. If you have a standard icemaker with the metal shutoff arm then you have a failed motor module in the icemaker. You can remove the icemaker and unplug the wiring connector from it so you can leave the water on to the dispenser.

TFX22CR GE refrigerator TFX22CRXFWW does Not dispense ice.

I had this problem with a similar refrigerator. The problem was the slide switch burns itself especially if you slide it from ice to water while holding the glass in to get ice and water into your glass. Better to slide it to ice, press the glass in to get ice, release the glass to stop the ice, slide the switch to water, then press the glass in again to get water. I "fixed" mine by removing the control panel and soldering some of the connections on the slide switch together so that we now have no crushed ice function, but the ice cubes work again. You can also replace the circuit board in the control panel to restore it to like-new operation. I could not find a place to order just the slide switch.

Not sure if this is the same problem with your unit, but sounds the same.

GE older ice maker won't make ice

pull the cover of the front of the ice maker. there should be directions as to what way to turn the main gear (use a philips screw driver). advance the ice maker until it starts to run on its own. if water comes in at the end of the cycle then you need a new ice maker. if no water comes in check to make sure the fill tube is not frozen. if it is clear replace the water valve.

Check the ice maker see it is in the right position, maybe you can try pull out the ice maker and clean it and push it back, make sure the position is right.

Can fridge doors be removed easily

If your unit has ice and water in the door, it IS a big deal. The doors cannot be removed without damage to the wiring that runs throught the door for the ice and water dispenser. You should cancel and order a unit that will fit through your doors.
