HP Officejet Pro l7780

When you close the lid where the rollers are at, it will not stay closed. Now if you put something heavy on it and it will work fine. I forgot to mention that 2 plastic pieces came out of it as well. I dont know exactly where they go. One is Green and the other one is Black.

Most likely the cover latches. Try calling HP support to see if they will sell you new latches. They are pretty bad at selling parts. In the past, I have used velcro strips, that you can buy ay Home Depot or Walmart.

Is this happening on TOP Feeder or Actual Paper Tray..

Turn off the printer
Remove the TOP ADF Cover and Clean the Rollers with lint free cloth
Remove the Rear Access door and clean the Rollers

Close the Doors and turn on the printer.

I am getting the following error code "00989C98" L7780

Hi this appears to be part of a generic problem possibly caused due to power surges…

As recommended by HP on these types of errors:

1: Disconnect the USB cable from the back of the product, but leave the product turned on.
2. Open the cover of the product and remove the print cartridges.
3. Close the cover and wait for the Insert Ink Cartridges message to display.
4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product and wait for one minute.
5. Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button.
6. Open the cover and reinsert the print cartridges.
7. Close the cover. If prompted, print a calibration page.
8. Reconnect the USB cable, and try to print a print job from the computer.

If this works, please grade the answer... If the steps don’t work I would recommend you check with HP.

(the steps highlighted above are from the support website from HP)

The auto-document feeder on our HP L7780 OfficeJet Pro printer doesn't pick up the papers anymore. The 'gears' are spinning, but the papers aren't advancing. I've cleaned the rollers, but that still didn't...

I put an elastic band around the black roller as it doesnt seem big enough and it works nearly every time now. Have done this with another L7780 Pro as well which fixed it completely on that one.

Error: rear access panel open, but it's not and now it won't print. Help!

Check VERY closely edges, rollers etc, you likely have a small shard of paper mucking up the works.
