DI-624 can't login as admin

I am trying to login as admin, to be able to change the default password and secure the signal, but the default username does not let me log in. I'm using 192.168.0.1, login-admin, password-(blank). How can I login as admin? Thank you

I have the same problem with my DI-624. With just a connection between my desktop and the router, I type in http://192.168.0.1 in my web browser and it takes me to a login window for the router. I type in "admin" and leave the password field blank and hit "ok." But then it just refreshes the login screen. It does that twice before failing with a "not authorized" on my browser. What is going on?? How can I login to this router? If I type in "user", it lets me right in, but I can't run the wizard since it says I'm not the admin. Please help! :-)

I am having the same problem with my DI-624. I cannot use "admin" to log in (with blank password). I held the reset button for 20 seconds hoping it'd reset it back to factory settings but that didn't help either.

    Any other suggestions?

I was ready to give it up and pitch the thing, but I found this on another board and it worked:

login - admin
password - password (not blank)

This worked for me:

1.) Login as 'User' with blank password.
2.) Run setup wizard.
3.) It should bring up a new window which requires logging in again.
4.) Now put 'Admin' and blank password.
5.) Configure the wizard which will also change the Admin password.

Hope this helped ;)

Hi guys:
This link helped a lot:
http://borgetech.blogspot.com/2007/09/d-link-di-524-revision-b4-status-light.html

Only thing I changed was the IP address. I used 192.168.0.2 instead of 192.168.123.253.

Hope this helps.

Try a master reset, holding the reset button for 20 to 30 seconds. It will bring the router to the factory status.

Hey guys,

This helped me solved the problem. Only thing I changed based on the instructions given was to change the IP address to 192.168.0.2. But basically followed it step-by-step.

Hope this helps.

Try connecting directly to the router with a cable as if there is a problem with the wireless connection then you won't be able to connect. If you are already connected directly then reset the unit to it's factory defaults: Locate the Reset button on the back of the DI-624 (through a small hole next to the power cable). Use a paper clip to press the Reset button Hold for about 10 seconds and then release. After the DI-624 reboots (this may take a few minutes) it will be reset to the factory Default settings. Now try to login again directly via a cable.

To give better answers I need some feedback! What did you try? Are you connected directly to the router? Can you "ping" the router? Can you telnet to the router?

How do I secure my D-Link Air Plus Xtreme G DI-624 wireless route

If you want to secure the router itself you have to launch your web browser. Type in the router's ip address on the address bar. Admin is the default username and leave the password field blank. Click on the Tools tab then make sure that Admin is highlighted to the top left corner of the page. Then change your administrative username and password on that page and click apply.

If you want to secure your wireless network. you have to launch your web browser. Type in the router's ip address on the address bar. Admin is the default username and leave the password field blank. Click on the Home tab then click on wireless to the right of the page. Make up something for your ssid. Select enabled for wep. Then delete the all zeros on key 1 and make up something for your password. Make sure that your password is 10 digits and you can only use numbers from 0-9 and letters from a-f. then click apply.

When I did restart then i want use d-link it says user name ?? and password ?

When you reset a router, it restore its settings to factory-default. If you are attempting to log in to the router's control panel, you will now have to use the factory default login credentials.

These credentials are:

Login: admin
Password: admin

Let me know if I can assist you further, or if I need to explain any of what I mentioned above in more detail.

D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DI-624 router access

'user' login is just read only, so you really cannot change any config.

so when you reset the modem have you tried to login with "admin" and the default password? if not try to reset it again, but pushing the reset button at the back of the router for a few seconds but before that search for the default password of your router in some search engine. like type in the model of your " 'router' default admin password "
