there IS a light source--either a separate bulb or a light pipe to direct illumination to the gear shift indicator. No separate fuse. Where is it? The French are VERY creative in such maters and you will need the Owners manual or Service manual to find it. I DO NOT recommend you start taking things apart to find it.
P1445 is a generic code for the canister purge emissions system. The problem is caused by anything from a loose or missing gas cap or a leak in the canister purge hoses or solonoid valve
pass the Scanner, you will have a o.k diagnostic. Maybe the sensor is faulty indicating faulty, when they are NOT. you can test the sensor too. see the diagram attached. God bless you
any other electrical faults? any aftermarket electrical equipment been fitted about the same time as the light problems?(phone chargers, Sat nav', etc.-remove temporarily to make sure they are not interfering with operation of electrics) are you sure all the bulbs fitted are the correct type - a twin filament bulb fitted where a single should be perhaps? maybe remove any bulbs fitted recently and see what happens. poor battery condition/low voltage/dirty connections at battery or earth wires can cause electrical problems like this. give more details of vehicle - year, model, spec etc. and say if problem is intermittent or every time you use the brake +/or the indicator. if you have a tow bar and trailer light socket fitted to it water entry into the socket could be the problem.
do both sides flash fast or just one side ? if it's both sides you may wish to purchase a new flasher relay for your car. if it's fast on one side still... check further to see if there is a burnt out bulb including (if it has one the side marker light).
The glow light flashing is an indication that there is fault. Often this is associated with a blown brake bulb or faulty brake switch which is an electronic switch at the base of the brake pedal itself. It often goes faulty on these Golfs causing the glow worm to flash.
An odd way to indicate a brake fault I know but there you go - thats the way VW do it! Check the actual bulbs first though. Hope this helps.
Ok man, i don't if that helps you, but when i tried it in my 1989 peugeot 205.
Try this: put on the hazzard lights and that will test some of the brake light circuit.
thanks macglen, but it turned out to be a faulty indicator bulb, just changed it and it was fine.
