You never mentioned a problem other than getting the console off. Describe your symptoms, so I can give you better advice.

If the washer fills normally, but will not go into a spin cycle, check your lid switch to make it is working properly. If it doesn't "click" when you close the lid, the switch is bad and needs to be replaced.

If you could please describe the symptoms and what you have done so far, I could probably give you a better solution. You need to post your response to THIS message instead of posting separate responses. With the volume of messages on this site, it gets confusing.

My son's Kenmore top load washer will not spin but the tub will fill with water. The motor hums when he turn the control to spin cycle. He lives in another state and I was looking at some you tube...

When he puts it into spin, does the water drain? If so, the pump is fine, as far as it not spinning, that is most likely either the coupler between the motor and the transmission, or the transmission itself.

To check the coupler, drain the washer, then pull the washer away from the wall and tilt it back on it's hind legs. Check to see that the rubber part of the coupler is intact and that the plastic parts are not stripped. Here's some pictures of the coupler http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Motor-Coupling/285753A/1195967

If the coupling is fine, and the motor is turning, then it's most likely the transmission, which you'd be best served having an appliance shop replace.

Hope this helps.

My Kenmore Top load washer works fine except from time to time it won't spin and discharge the rinse water thoroughly. Sometimes if I move the drum back and forth while manually spinning it, it will...

The first thing I would check would be the motor coupling, sounds like this is worn on your unit, you shouldnt be able to spin the basket by hand very easily. The couling could be engaing and then slipping. When the tub doesn't spin the water will not be pumped out. If it is making any grinding noise or whirring noise then that would point to the coupling. The coupling is only around $25.00 to buy and then a service call to get it replaced. Also check the lid switch to make sure it is working, if this switch does not make, the machine will not spin, this is a safety devise. You can push down on it with a pen or small scredriver and see if this is making and the drum spins while the lid is open. Sometimes when the coupling goes bad you might also get a slight burning rubber smell and this is an indicator that it is almost gone.

I have a kenmore 90 series washer that won't spin. It makes a grinding type noise at that point in the cycle. I followed the trouble shooting guide and checked the motor/gearbox coupler. The coupler looks...

If the coupling is OK then the problem is most likely to be further up the drive-line, which means the gearbox has probably failed. .........Nomess

The drum is not spinning. I hear a noise like when you stick something in your bike spokes.

Assuming that this is a Kenmore / Whirlpool top loader with a direct drive system, the first thing to check is the motor coupling.

The transmission and motor have plastic parts that connect through a rubber coupling.

pd_0026_110_285753a?$pddetailsth$ #13 on diagram Coupling, motor and isolation Number:661560Substitution:285753A $18.50 If the coupler rubber piece wears out, the pins on the motor and transmission sides will rub together making the sound.

If the coupler looks good the problem is likely in the transmission.

If the machine still comes on but doesn't spin, you probably need to replace the coupling. More than likely coupling has cracked or the rubber band that holds it together has worn and broken. Happened to mine twice. The part is only about $10 if you can manage to do it yourself. Part # 285753A. I'm a woman and was able to do it (if that helps any). Good luck.

Kenmore 110.24642300 won't spin

This sounds like a typical symptom of a broken motor coupling. Click on the following link for step-by-step instructions on how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385250-replacing_motor_coupling_kenmore_top

These instructions will give you the necessary information to take the washer apart to get to the motor coupling to see if it has failed. A tell tale sign is black rubber dust particles under the washer where the drive motor is located. Usually the rubber bushing shears apart, or the plastic tines break off the coupling itself. If the motor coupling is broken a replacement can be found at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and the coupling can be found under the "Brake/Clutch/Gearcase/Motor/Pump" heading on the next page as item number 13. The part number is 285753A. This is a very simple repair job. If need further assistance, or have any questions please let me know. For quicker responses to your questions, please go to my profile and use the "Ask Me" feature. Kenmore elite top load ms9711174

THE KENMORE TOP LOAD WASHER HAS A CLUTCH AND DRIVE COUPLING THAT IS PART OF THE SPIN CYCLE.
THE DRIVE COUPLING ATTACHES THE MOTOR TO THE TRANSMISSION AND IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND RUBBER.
IT COULD BE GETTING HOT AND TORN. THE OTHER POSSIBILITY IS THE CLUTCH MAY BE SLIPPING. THERE COULD BE OIL THAT HAS GOTTEN INTO THE CLUTCH AND SO THE CLUTCH WON'T GRIP. PULL THE CABINET OFF OF THE WASHER OR TIP IT BACK AND CHECK THE FLOOR FOR BLACK OR WHITE SHAVINGS OR OIL. THE SHAVINGS WOULD BE FROM THE DRIVE COUPLING AND THE OIL COULD BE FROM THE TRANSMISSION OR THE SPIN TUBE.
