Here are the directions straight from Lexmark. They actually say to uninstall the drivers first. They say to use the Vista drivers for Win7. Visit the Lexmark website to download the Lexmark X6180 driver. Click on this link: Lexmark X6170 Drivers. Select your operating system to start the download.

When Loaded printer must first decide whether to connect using the USB or ethernet cable. When you bought the printer did you get with a CD, here you have Loaded the software that came with, here select either the network or usb.when you innstal the softweare

Here is the link to the x6170 which will work for the x6180. Just choose your operating system (XP or Vista) and download the driver file. You can also download the manual there if you need. Steve Medley

did you remove the tape that is on the cartridge. look at the area touch the paper path, see if there is orange or red tape on the cartidge. pull it out and insert the cartridge again. it should work

You probably need to go to the Lexmark site and select another country and see if it will pop up.

It could be that they don't have a US power supply for the unit.

There should be a switch on your printer that has a padalock on it, one open and one closed. Switch it to the open one, this will unlock your scanner.

lexmark.co.uk and select the x6170 it works just as fine
