Question about Sanyo Xacti E6 Digital Camera
I came across this pb on the website: "Whenever I turn my camera on the screen just shows up black and if you take a photo when you go to look at it it just shows up as a black photo. When I look at the lens theres a white line showing that wasnt there before so something may have gone out of alignment" This is exactly the same problem i'm facing. The solution given by David Miller was: "It sounds like the shutter mechanism in your lens has stuck closed. This mechanism blocks out the light when you push the button to take a picture, allowing the image sensor to record what it saw just at that moment. If the shutter sticks closed then the image is always dark. You can see the shutter when it is closed from the outside, this is probably what you see when looking into your lens. Fixing this problem generally requires complete disassembly of the camera body and lens to reset the malfunctioning elements. Check with your manufacturer for recalls or technical bulletins, and see if they will fix it under your warranty. If this does not work out you can find good service providers online who can work on your camera. David Millier Advance Camera Repair" But i live in egypt, had bought my camera from Dubai. Never got a warranty... And i don't believe there's any service provider locally who can dismantle my camera and fix it. What should i do???

SOURCE: software for Xacti VPC CG9
I can help you find the free software for the Sanyo CG9, but Sanyo seems reluctant to allow people to download the commercialsoftware that is bundled with the camera when you buy it. I have readthat you can request a free CDROM from them with some kind of proof ofpurchase, but I don't see where one can make that request.
You can find the CG9 Support Website here, where there are links to the manuals, and to software with no licensing issues.
Youshould be able to access the photos and the videos on the camera fromyour computer without any commercial software. If you can be morespecific with what you are trying to do with the camera I can try tohelp.

SOURCE: Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG9 movie downloading and DVD burning
I always recommend having a version of your users manual on your computer, because it is so much easier to search through the manual quickly to find what you are looking for.
You can find a digital version of the users manual for the Sanyo CG9 here, and you will also find the free software for downloading videos to your computer and watching them there.
Once your videos are on your computer, you can burn a data disc without any commercial software. Some DIVX or XVID dvd players will play these data disks and you can watch your movies like that. An .MP4 data DVD will hold much more video than a standard DVD video disk because it squeezes it much tighter. You can play your .mp4 videos through a PS3 using a data dvd or a thumbdrive.
If you want to convert your mp4 videos to a standard dvd that will play in any dvd player, you will need commercial conversion software such as ULead MovieFactory or Nero Vision. MovieFactory was included with some sanyo camcorders, but if you have lost your disk, they do not allow you to download it from their website.
I hope that helps!

SOURCE: dvd software for my Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG9
You can write a data dvd that will play on any DIVX or XVID dvd player that supports this format:
" ISOstandard MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 (AAC audio)."
Some Blue-Ray players play this format, like Sony's PS3. The PS3 will play these videos from a thumbdrive.
Some Sanyo camcorders ship with a disk containing commercial software to convert your .MP4 videos to standard dvd video, such as Ulead MovieFactory. If you have lost your disk, Sanyo will not allow you to download it from the website. I cannot recommend where to download commercial software, such as MovieFactory or Nero Vision.

SOURCE: I Need driver for my sanyo xacti VPC-HD1A
The problem is with Windows, not the lack of a driver. My XP machine suddenly stopped recognizing my HD1A. I can still connect to other USB drives. The work around - either reboot to Linux, which recognizes the HD1A as a USB drive, or put the SD card into a reader. If your SD card is larger than 2 Gb, you may have to buy a new card reader.
