Hi Surenderpdsi

It sounds as if the printer spooler needs re-starting.

This is the path to the printer spooler service,

Windows XP Path (category view)
Start – Control Panel – Performance and maintenance – Administrative tools – Services.

Windows Vista Path (category view)
Start – Control Panel – System and Maintenance – Administrative tool – Services.

Once in Services both XP and Vista are the same.

Look down the list till you find Printer Spooler.

Once found, right click your mouse on Print Spooler and select Properties.

In the properties box that open the service status should read “Started” if not click on start.

If it says the spooler is started click stop, wait till the spooler has stopped then click start.
This will re-start the spooler and should fix your problem.

Hope this helps,

MK Support.

ok, so for this, always had an issue with this one,
so, what i did is started the spooler, the way to do this is you have to go into control panel>>>admin. tools>>> services>>>printer spooler>>> and then you have a blue icon on your left where you have to click on the button that says start the spooler, now i recommend you minimize this window,

next step is that you add the printer through the add a printer wizard in most cases the printer should already have the basic driver installed into the computer. and way to add it to to start the add a wizard, click on add a port make sure the box where it reads plug in play is unchecked, so the only icon you have checked is the local port, next you choose the port that is usb001 from here you choose hp>>> then laserjet 1020, let the printer driver install and finally your done.

It sounds like an issue with the spooler service on Windows.
You will have to download the tool kit to run it. It states for windows server 2003 but will also work on xp Her is the link fo rthe download:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9D467A69-57FF-4AE7-96EE-B18C4790CFFD&displaylang=en

here is a link with direction for running it on xp

http://www.windowsreference.com/windows-xp/how-to-clean-print-spooler-in-windows-xp2003/

When you run it it will ask you if you are sure you want to delete spooler files. clcik yes. When it asks if you want to delete USB monitor click on no.
Thisis the fix for the print spooler issue after you run the cleanspl.exetool and wipe out all the ports. You have to add back in the USB portmanually.

Run regedit. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Print/Monitors.Look for a USB Monitor entry. Before doing anything else, backup theregistry entry by right clicking on "Monitors" and selecting "Export".Give it a name and locaction so that you can put it back if you haveproblems later. If "USB Monitor" is not there, add it by right-clickingon Monitors, New, Key. Name the new key "USB Monitor". Once added, right click on the new key and select New, String Value. Name the newvalue "Driver". In the right portion of regedit, right click on the new"Driver" value and select "Modify". Make the value data "usbmon.dll".If there is an "HPUMON" entry (or the like), delete it. Disconnect theUSB cable to the printer. Run the "scrubber" or clean utility, rebootthe machine. Reconnect the printer and install the driver software permanufacturer instuction. This fixed my problem. Good luck!

Operation could not br completed. The print spooler service is not running

Hi There,

If your print spooler service is not running, then follow the below steps to get it working :

Step 1 :
* Start > run > services.msc > ok
* Select the service name called print spooler from the list.
* Check the status on the print spooler service, if it is stopped, then right click and select start or restart.
* Then the spooler service will start working....

Step 2 : ( NOTE :USE THIS STEP ONLY WHEN YOUR STEP 1 DOESN'T WORK )
In this case, we assume that the print spooler service is gone bad and we would have to recreate the spooler service.

* Start > run > cmd > ok
* Type: sc delete spoolsv (this will delete the corrupted spooler for us to create a new print spooler)
* Reboot the system and after rebooting the computer back.

* Start > run > cmd > ok
* Type: sc create spoolsv (this will create a new print spooler service)
* Reboot the system and this time the print spooler service is a new and fresh spooler and it should work normal and perfectly.

Enjoy printing !!

Printer Spooler service!

This will provide you with the most common default settings.
  1. Restart (reboot) your system [to assure a clean reinitialized starting point].
  2. Log on as any Windows user that has 'administrator' privileges.
  3. Open your 'Services' console [Start button > Run... > type "services.msc" (without quotes), then hit 'Enter'].
  4. Locate, then open "Print Spooler" [double-click it OR right-click it, then choose "Properties" from the context menu].
  5. Modify the settings on the "General", "Log On", and "Recovery" tabs according to the following images.

Printer Spooler service!

Click on "Start, Run", type "services.msc"

On the right side of the services window, scroll down to "Print Spooler". Double-click it.

If startup type is "disabled", click the drop-down and set to "Automatic" and then click "Start". If already on automatic, click "Stop" to stop the service. Once stopped, click "Start" to restart the service.

Reboot and try again :)

Spooler not running after Lexmark x83 installation on windows XP laptop

From what you're saying the windows print spooler service is not starting following the installation of your printer (and thereby you cannot print i'm assuming)

try the following to start the print spooler service if it is not already running.
Click Start
Right Click My Computer
Click Manage
Click "Services and Applications"
Click Services
Scroll down to "Print Spooler" and double click on it to open up the properties page
where it says "startup type" select automatic from the combo box list
Apply
If the service is NOT running, start it by clicking "start"
click OK

The print spooler service is started now, and **should** work properly. If the spooler is still not starting properly, then you may have a driver issue and i reccommend uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for your printer.
