My 3000 watt honda generator doesn't seem to put out the proper power

When I am running my 3000 watt honda generator to my cabin, the generator will blow fuses in my stereo and surround sound.But at the same time doesn't seem to produce enough power for my light bulbs or power tools. The light bulbs are really dull while the generator is running. Could anyone give me some advice? Thanks

Try calculating the wattage of all the components you are trying to use with your generator. Include EVERYTHING including lights, stereo, refrigerator, oven, whatever. Why it is blowing fuses in your stereo is really unclear to me. I would solve the issue with the dim lights first. Go to your breaker panel and turn off everything you don't need. You may be drawing current in a circuit that you are not aware of.

I would check spark arrester and clean it and the muffler first.lt could be the inverter unit. If you have a meter determine the output voltage, and freq. You would need a scope to look at waveform the repair should be lest to a repair center. suggest you call Honda for more guidance.
You could spend a lot of money on maybe parts./

Check the Ground Fault Indicator circuit breaker for triping, and look for the high limit on generator. Reset the main breaker by triping it full right and then back. Vitally

SOURCE: Honda EU30001 generator causes erratic pellet stove operation.

Ok Motors and the like generally DO NOT really go all that well from a generator, what load does the Stove use?, You must add up the cumlitive "Wattages" of ALL things connected, see your generator is about 3000 Watts, 3KW, How much "headroom" is there between the two? Whats supplied versus whats being used? Purely inductive loads, like Motors etc, are less responsive than electronic loads. I suspect that your generator is NOT providing enough current to the Stove, especially when "Other" things are connected. also. Look, if the, any, generator is 3000 Watts really you should only load it up to a couple of KW's, 2.5KW being about maximum. To do what you are doing would require, IMHO, at least, 5KW, to get the "Headroom" of current drawn over current able to be delivered by the generator. Also inductive loads loose heaps of power and actually cause a higher draw. So that your answer, you must use it well, inside it's rating, not right up to the limit.

SOURCE: Hi, i have two honda

  1. If you check on generators output and you have voltage there, your circuit breakers may have dropped.
  2. If there is no voltage there, you may have:
  • Bad slip rings, brushes, wires to field winding;
  • Bad field supply rectifier;
  • If the field circuit is OK, the magnetic field may need to be recharged
In order to build the magnetic field up again you can connect for a short time (1 - 3 seconds) by a working motor, a 12 V battery to the field terminals, + and - respected. A series diode 10 - 25A to battery can stop the built up field voltage to overcharge the battery.

If my generator shut off due to low lubricant will it reset automatically? If not is there a reset valve/button?

The pull cord is like a starter on a car (separate from the motor/engine). If the pull cord will not turn it could be because the motor/engine is seized.

Honda eu3000is. runs but not putting out the full watts. Is this a cheap or expensive fix?

I have the 5kw Honda and have no problem, but I have never tried to run 5,000 watts either. It is reaching max rpms? Air filter clean? Good fuel? Oil? Have you run it much, or does it sit? How do you measure the wattage? Add up a bunch of things like, skil saw, pump, fridge, etc? Let's see, skill saw at 13 amps x 120 volts =1560 watts. Fridge probably idles at 7amps, starter windings use 10 or so amps, tv, 500 watts, computer, I would not run anything electronic with a genny, unless I had a spike protector on it. Check it out, hope this helps.

I,m wiring an outlet in the garage to plug my honda 3000 into , to power a few circuits in the house. How many amp circuit can I run with a Honda 3000? Thanks RJ

On your sump pump, there is something called a nameplate which lists model number, serial number, manufacturer, and power requirements. The power can either be listed in watts directly, or in amps (at 120v). Also click on this web page and You will be able to figure it out. http://www.donrowe.com/inverters/usage_chart.html Hope that answers Your question.
