The power went out for a brief second due to a storm (I was playing Need For Speed: Most Wanted - in the middle of a race). I turned the xbox360 back on, but it no longer recognized my 4 wireless controllers or the HD-DVD player plugged in the rear USB port. It did recognize my DOA4-wired USB controller in front and the HD-DVD player in the front USB slot. I am also able to turn on the 360 using the wireless controllers, but they never sync (even when I push the sync buttons on both - they both rotate then flash all 4 and then the 360 stops searching).
I figured I'd have to return it (it's one of the originals - almost 2 years old, never had a problem!) to best buy (paid for extra warranty), but it also doesn't recognize my memory card in the front memory slot. Really wanted to save my player info.
Any advice? Greatly appreciated!

I've been experiencing the same problems but beardy dave's solution did not work for me. Also I don't think my power went out, I just turned it on the other day and this started.

When both sync buttons are pressed the quadrant lights spin around briefly and stop together like they work, except no quadrant lights are designated and/or remain lit. USB detects controller but also does not designate a quadrant. I had the same problem started yesterday. I stumbled accross this thread. This situation is not an issue with the controllers it is with the console. The solution that worked for me is turning the xbox on. Leaning it forward unplugging the power cable from the back while the console was running and then plugging back in and booting up. Everything working fine now. My bosses console had this similar issue too; we fixed it a similar way by doing the power loss reset, and then a couple days later it red ringed on him.
Whats happening with your joypads happened to me a couple times i found that if you switch the batterys around from pad to pad and trying the sync it eveytime you swap should work eventually

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS TO COMPUTER If your photos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.
Some of the older cd players, car or otherwise, just aren't capable of recognizing CD-RW's. The player in my 10 year old Ford Mondeo doesn't, but the updated model player in the newer Mondeo does play CD-RW's.

File formats that the PS3 doesn't recognize as something that it can play can only be saved to a USB storage device, or a memory card. You can't download anything to the PS3 hard drive via the browser that you couldn't copy to it from a USB storage device. That is what the error message means. You have to connect an external storage device, because the PS3 won't store this file format on the internal drive. This protects the integrity of the system. If you connect a USB drive or memory card (you will need a USB adapter for the memory card if you don't have a launch PS3), then you can download anything that you want using the PS3 web browser.
My reader will not read mine either. I use a usb key card reader. It used to read the regular old SD cards but the new HC card format wont work. This is due to UDF differences. You can try to reformat the card but then your camera or device may not recognize it anymore. good luck
This is likely due to power consumption, if a hub doesn't have it's own power adapter, then it is drawing bus power from your computer, and will not have enough power to drive larger devices.
With regards to your problem with Kingston 4Gb memory card, I am happy to share to you the following diagnosis:
Make sure that your memory card is not damage. Upon buying you need to test it;
Maybe the memory card is not properly formatted as NTFS or FAT32 depending on the machines' specifications but usually this particular storage device must be formatted into FAT32; or
It happens that your PC and camera couldn't recognize the card because maybe the card reader of both gadget were damage and definitely will require to buy a new one.
mine did that too, turned out a picture tube went out on it. I was told that it probabely was a sensor that was turning it off. the picture tube, I was told, would cost me over 600 dollars
