call the carrier in which the phone is locked to and tell them you bought the phone used and it doesnt work with your sims card ask then if they can give you the subsidy code or unlock code you will have to give them ur imei number and they will give you he code you need as well as directions that worked for me

Four things it could be are:
1. You are in an area that doesn't provide service for the sim card you have inserted.
2. There is a bad connection inside the phone between the antenna and the main board.
3. If it is locked for a network and a different network's sim card is inserted it may cause this problem.
4. A problem with the main board or the firmware could be the culprit.

Unfortunately, unless you have experience with these phones it will be difficult to diagnose which is your problem.

format your sd card using your treo 680. then you insert your sd card to your laptop or into a card reader so you can transfer music files from your computer. create a folder to the main directory of your sd card and then rename it to "AUDIO". you may now save music files to that folder.
you can now play music files to your treo 680.

You might try cleaning the contacts with some fine 400 grit sandpaper or other contact cleaner. I have a 2 year old 680, and I cut a piece of this sandpaper to the same size as the sim card. I pushed it into the slot, and ran it in and out for half a minute. I also sanded the contacts on the sim. Not too much, mind you, but it cured my problem. Good luck...

Same problem, but mine began, when I changed between one Sim (telcel) to other SIM (Movistar).  Whith the second my phone works fine, but with the first carrier, all sims failed to make phone calls

the soloution is sim ur sim is not avaliable for this phone you need to use original sim my brothers 1 was unlocked then this happened i put in vodafone original sim and it started working if it doesnt u have to go 2 phone and then tap the top sos thing and search for network manaully hope this helps

First thing to check is to make sure that she has inserted a correct sim. If you don't know how to do this, download the manual from Palm.com. Next make sure that it is a 3G sim. I am a little ahead of myself. You did not say that the phone was a GMS phone. If it isn't, forget the sim description. Assuming it is a GSM phone and you inserted the correct sim in the sim slot, Then make sure that you have put it in the wireless mode. To do this, hold down the phone button to get the message that the phone is off. Ansewr with yes.Last thing, does the phone have the logo on the front. Be sure that the logo matches your carrier.

Have you activated phone yet? When phone is activated and in service it flashes green. It's hard to believe it would flash green without a SIM card, as there is no service...unless AT&T is providing emergency service only and you're getting a flashing green which means you're in range of their towers.
