Days. The evaporator coil freezes up! The defrost clock works, but the compressor dosen't cut off. When it goes into defrost cylce! Is the relay Bad???
This sounds like a stuck relay to me. I have seen this problem before. The defrost clock kills power to the compressor relay coil during defrost. If the contacts in the relay are welded together the compressor runs while unit is trying to defrost. On newer units this relay is mounted in base of unit on the side or back of the electrical box near center bottom of unit. The compressor relay is a small rectangular box with 4 wires attached. It can be replaced with a single pole 20 amp contactor with a 120 volt coil/ or 240 volt. Check the units name plate voltage rating and ratings on old relay! ;)

Try this web site. It should be the installation manual. It covers setting the clock. I would start there to be sure that it's doing what it is supposed to be doing.
Defrost cycle: Compressor cuts off, evap fans cut off, evap heaters come on. All of these functions should be controlled by the time clock. It could be set or wired wrong.
If you can not open the link, try "Truemfg.com" and search your model.
Good luck and hope this works.
This is only a guessing game unless you talk to True Mfg The model in their view has nothing to do with how it was built. I know True Manufacturing and they want your serial number not the model. Most have copeland slide in compressors that work on pressure switches and timers. Yes contacts in timer or pressure switch, lack of Freon, bad gasket like the TheMobilian mentioned will keep it running. The only way to find out how that T-49 was built is serial number. Click here=> Serial Number Inquiry and then same page contact support. T-49's are not all built the same. I'm not trying to step over anyone here only trying help. A little funny story about them is the first time I asked the service tech insulted me. They are still a great company! Thanks, Everyone Sea breeze
When TheMobilian and I say gaskets he is saying door seals and yes we are both from the South. Think JW is from Mobile, Alabama. I would like to hear back from you as what you do find. If need you may contact me here on Fixya or my Forum=> Appliance 911 My contact information is located above the Fixya Ad on my blog here=> Sea Breeze Appliance Parts and Technical Services, www.pcappliancerepair.com
