A fingernail file, the cardboard/sandpaper kind is the best method. Don't use any solvents. Once you have the corrosion mostly cleaned away, use a pencil eraser to gently clean the rest.
A beep when pressing the PTT button could be a low or bad battery indicator. It takes more energy to transmit than to rest idly or receive. Try a known good battery in the radio and see if it corrects the problem.
If the battery is not the issue, then you may have a programming problem. Typically radios with a blank or unprogrammed channel will beep when placed on that channel. Try programming the radio to a different channel and see if the beep still occurs. If the beep occurs on many program settings you may have a deeper issue.
Unless you want to go to the expense of buying a programming cable and the software, take it to a dealer/shop and have them program it. It's illegal for you to program a commercial radio.
- Power the radio OFF - Power the radio ON - Push and hold The UP arrow, DOWN arrow, and MON keys and power the set ON - Release the keys when the message rESt (reset) appears on the display.

Open the battery cover by pulling down. Undo 2 T8 screws holding the top cover on. if you are using the belt clip it's a bit of a pain to remove - a screwdriver in the top pulling up may work - I ended up getting it half way out, then hacksawing off the rest. Then the back cover should unclip. Good luck, inside it's a pretty nice well built radio, except the antenna plastic is a bit weak, and it uses batteries a bit fast.
A 22 channel transceiver is an American system call FRS/GMRS radios which are actually illegal in the UK and rest of europe. They use different frequencies completely and will not work together on you other PMR radios.
