HOTPOINT dishwasher flooding my kitchen floor

My dishwasher, model no. HDA3740G02SA, decided to freak out on me tonight and flood my kitchen floor. I've never had this problem before, but the machine has always made weird noises when washing..sort of like a grinding sound? I've just recently moved into this apartment, the guy who I moved in with moved out...so I don't know if there where any issues with the washer before. I also don't know anything about these machines, but I do know that I now have stagnant water in the bottom of the washer, most of which I scooped out, but I not able to figure out if the thing is clogged or not. Can someone help?

Does water comes into the dishwasher all time, even when it doesn't operated?

In this case,it sound like a water level switch problem (doesn't show the "full" water position). The switch level is usually a diaphragm device with a small clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. I am not familiar with your specific machine, but if you will open the rear panel you will find it easily. Clear tube first from any obstruction, In case it doesn't help, disconnect the wires from the unit (you should disconnect first machine's power cable !!!!!) and measure with a multi-meter on its tugs for continuity and disconnection while you are inhale and blow to its tube.
In case it doesn't react, you should replace it.
    Good luck !

Did you use a detergent not intended for automatic dishwashers, i.e. dawn liquid etc.? If you do, it will over-suds on you and the suds will pour out of the machine in the middle of the wash cycle.

I know, because it just happened to us...! My wife bought some "eco-friendly" soap and the genius at the store said it was safe for automatic washers...but it is not (clearly states so on the bottle, and we didn't notice that until after the kitchen floor was half covered in bubbles...)

Hope this helps someone, its an easy thing to rule out/fix at the very least...

On hotpiont model#hda3500n10bb. it developa water leak and flooded my kitchen floor. I've stopped the floding. However how do I stop the alarm .

In the base of the dishwasher is a float or a sensor
So all the water has to be removed and dried out before the alarm will stop.

What type of dishwasher do you have? Has your kitchen floor flooded? If it has. The tray under dish washer isn't water tight. Moisture creates some unusual problems. Some of newer dish washer the there control panel under the top of door this also create problem especially if the switches are on the top of the door. Another moisture problem. I have repaired a new Electrolux dish was three times in less than 6 months. The floor would flood from the Maytag side load washing machine. The Madam of the house didn't tell me that the washing machine flooded the kitchen floor. No window in the door and sometime fill water solenoid would stick and fill the tube. When they open washing machine door, 12 gallons of water would spill. So I fix both of them. GB...stewbison

Dishwasher

if you say it washes it may be confused with the drain pump running all the time
if this the case the machine may have a flood switch in base of machine this means that the machine has flooded or has a leak so you need to pull machine out take outsied and check for leaks
