The 42" Philips screen was hardly used, I had it a year and a half, and used it only a few hours a week, so there is no reason why the TV just shut off by itself and will not go back on. No power, no nothing, it is just dead. I have read comments over the internet, and I am not the only person with this problem, and it seems to be the power supply. I already priced a repair at close to $700.00. I am looking to start a class action lawsuit with Philips. If you have the same problem with your Philips 42" Plasma montior, and would like to join the suit please email me at [email protected] Thanks Sandi B.The 42" Philips screen was hardly used, I had it a year and a half, and used it only a few hours a week, so there is no reason why the TV just shut off by itself and will not go back on. you have a problem in the power supply module more then likely their a caps blown they will be obvious tops blown off or busted open youll have to take back off look on module in the middle
yes to your ? i asume you have had the back off of this tv...there are 6-7 modules inside. the power supply is where you need to focus some attention. and yes plasma sets do overheat.try to find a way to attach 2 120mm fans to the heatsinks. then try to find a 12 volt source with a volt meter. attach the fans to that source and you are good to go. be carefull not to short or overload the power supply. or you will be spending 3-4 hundo for a new 1... good luck..
your best bet is to check owneres manual and keep with what they suggest however when ordering you may want to ask for tech support to see what they say but i would stick with what you had especially if it worked great that way you dont want to overpower your tv if that is what it was used to ..if it ain't broke don't fix it i hope that helps
