Black screen- cannot view pictures, can hear sound
By mistake I clicked on progressive scan from menu > video.
The screen is all black since then and I can only hear sound, cannot view any picture except for VIDEO on left top corner of my screen.
Please advise.
Cannot hear pictures or sound. It happened when I pressed the wrong keys on the remote with the CD tray open while trying to make my DVD 622 region free. It reset by pressing down 1 while the CD tray was open.Cannot hear pictures or sound. It happened when I pressed the wrong keys on the remote with the CD tray open while trying to make my DVD 622 region free. Try getting the Green component output and put it on the Yellow composite input. Your picture should be black and white. Then you can see the video to change the resolution back to where you need it. Hope this helps.
According to the operating instructions (page 97), Progressive Scan can be cancelled (or turned off) by pressing and holding PAUSE (on the main unit) continuously for 5 - 10 seconds, until the progressive indicator goes out, or turning it off in the setup menu. Your recorder should now be back to normal interlace video output. I recommend that you check your setup menu after this procedure to make sure nothing 'AUTO' is set, that shouldn't be set, and subsequently turning off any function that isn't required.
Press OPEN/CLOSE on the DVD player
to open the disc tray.
Press numeric keypad ‘1’ on the
remote control for few seconds.
➜ The DVD blue background screen
will appear on the TV.
Go to menu and sub menu video .Under video option you will see video formatt,e.g Pal,NTSC.You confrim your tv standered if its pal or NTSC (this you can check at back of your tv set ,not always mention but most of them are printed)On your dvd player
you have to select same formatt as your tv .If not sure of you tv system try auto system on you player.
NB dont select progressive scan by mistake otherwise you will not see any picture on your tv if its not progressive scan tv.
If you could mention tv and dvd model and brand will be able to advise you exactly.
to turn it off select connection method 3 above and progressive scanning mode, to set the mode, set progressive to off in the display menu so that the p scan indicator light on the front panel goes out. do all of this in interface mode. you can also do this by pressing and holding PLAY > on the front of the unit for more than 5 seconds, still watch for the p scan indicator to go off. this works best when the unit is connected directly to the television.
