Question about Sony Handycam DCR-TRV8 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Blurred Video I have a Sony DCR-TRV8 Handy-cam that has a blurred video problem. The picture resembles a runny water color. It can be seen on both the LCD screen as well as through the eye piece, and is also captured on the tape. I can apply a slight side ways pressure to the lens ring and it will clear up until I release the pressure on the lens and the blur is back. Some times after I release the pressure the picture will stay clear for a few seconds and it blurs again. I know it has to do with the lens, I just don't know if it's the lens assembly or just a loose connection. Can you help, Thanks.

I have almost an identical problem as this, The camera shows images in the viewfinder as well as the LCD with the colors bleeding. Almost seems like the image is overexposed. And if I squeeze the camera with my fingers on the sides while im holding it (closer to the lens, but still on the sides) the image returns to normal. I have opened the camera and looked for any loose connections or screws, but all seems well. I will tinker with it again tomorrow and post the results..

Okay so today I messed around with the inside of the camera, and what I think the problem is that there is some space inside the lens that is not tightly sealed... After opening the camera up, it was a small black area on the side of the lens that needed to be pushed for the video to return to normal, I tried unscrewing that area to get inside, but there are quite a few connections running to and from that area so I decided not to mess with it. But I did tighten all the screws in the area and it did seem to make a difference as the video does stay normal for a longer time now than it did before and does seem to handle movement much better. If this problem becomes as bad as it were before, I will take the lens apart and see whats going on inside. But I do seem to think that the area or seating of the lens is slightly off and that is what is causing the image to become blurred.
