When the top oven is turned on to preheat, it does preheat, and then after a few minutes will beep twice and shut off. Sometimes I can just turn it back on and it stays on for about 15 minutes, and then double beep and shuts off, but this time I can't turn it back on until it cools completely. I don't think it is heating properly either--food takes a long time to cook.

Re: Maytag Gemini electric oven
Well my friend these type ovens have eyes and sensers. It could be that you left something on the sensor when you were cleaning it. That is if it is not self cleaning. Self cleaning gets real hot and could affect your appliance in some way. It shouldn't but it might.

I had this same problem last night.. I have been having problems with the oven shutting off on preheat.. That sort of stopped. Last night lost power to the house. When it returned the oven was beeping and flashing PBR. I turned off the breaker for a few mins. last night and it returned. It was bugging me so much that turned it off the whole night. Woke up this morning turned the breaker back on and it stopped. I don't think this is the total solution. I am thinking that eventually I am going to have to replace power board in this oven. Hope it works!

Oven temp sensors sense the temperature is the oven cavity and the temp sensor changes resistance, this change in ohm resistance tells the oven control what temperature the oven cavity at and tells the control to shut off the element or turn it back on. The most common temp sensors used today ( *not all ) are approx 1000-1100 ohm resistance at room temperature ( 70F ) Some ohm readings and there temperature: Degrees F - Resistance 100 - 1143 ohms 200 - 1350 ohms 300 - 1553 ohms 350 - 1654 ohms 400 - 1753 ohms 500 - 1949 ohms
When you say "Just shut off" do you mean the circuit breakers would trip, or fuses would blow? If so, I would have an electrician check that the circuit is properly fused/breakered and wire sized for the amount of power required by the oven. If the installation directions say it needs a 50 amp service, it better be a 50 amp service. If shutting off is just something within the oven, then get LG back out again, and let us know of what they say is wrong.
