Question about Maytag MER6772 Gemini Electric Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Maytag Gemini electric oven

When the top oven is turned on to preheat, it does preheat, and then after a few minutes will beep twice and shut off. Sometimes I can just turn it back on and it stays on for about 15 minutes, and then double beep and shuts off, but this time I can't turn it back on until it cools completely. I don't think it is heating properly either--food takes a long time to cook. There have not been any error codes. This problem began after cleaning the oven.

Well my friend these type ovens have eyes and sensers. It could be that you left something on the sensor when you were cleaning it. That is if it is not self cleaning. Self cleaning gets real hot and could affect your appliance in some way. It shouldn't but it might.

OK IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU may have a temperture sensor out or going out.Or your complete circuit board is faulty.

Hi greg_shanoia,

The F1:-4 error code means "Runaway Clean Lower oven". You need to check the oven temperature sensor, replace if necessary.

Hope it helps.

How do I activate the Shabbos (Sabbath) Mode.

To
provide sabbath feature (or to cancel this setting):
1. Push the PREHEAT pad and set the oven
temperature to 500°F/260°C or more using the UP
ARROW pad.
2. Push the PREHEAT pad within the next 2 seconds
for 3-4 seconds. A beep sounds and a number
appears in red to the right of the display. For the
conversion, "3" must be displayed. If another number
is displayed, push the PREHEAT pad and select
"3".
3. Push the UP or DOWN ARROW pad to change
from 12 hour to 9999 in the display, for no 12 hour
shut-off.
4. Push the CANCEL pad to confirm your choice.

Purchased at Maytag Gemini MER6770 in 2000. It

Sounds like the cancel (or stop) button is making contact by itself. Clock (oven control board) may need replacement.
One option to buy it new, your part number is 12001661
Coupon "New10" chops 10% off.
Another is to send the clock to be rebuilt. Google "stove timer rebuild", you'll find plenty of companies which can repair your original clock. In case you need it, the original part number is 74004542.
To get to the clock, remove the back of the control panel. Good luck.
