Photosmart HP 5550 indicates a paper jam or paper stall`.
    Tried uninstall/reinstall, did not work.
Cleared the paper jam, but problem remains.

I had a paper jam, the jam's been cleared, the yellow light continues to blink.  I've unplugged the printer and plugged it back in, turned it on and off, removed the paper and put it back several times, hit "start jobs" in the printer window on my mac several times, the yellow light continues to blink.

The power light is on, and the resume light is blinking.

constant yellow blinking light, no paper jam - c00109831.gifc00109834.gif The printer might be waiting to complete a print job or to receive data from your computer.

Solution

Wait for the printer to finish the current task. The printer is waiting for the ink to dry on freshly printed paper.

Solution

  1. Remove the paper with fresh ink.

The printer might be out of paper.

None of the suggested problems applies in my case and the resume button has been flashing for weeks. Is it time to throw the printer away and get a new one?

Red light is constantly blinking and when try to print, there is always a paper jam

Every time there is paper jam, the printer knows the job is not completed and hence tries to re-print after the paper is removed and cover is shut.

Clear the print job from computer.
Power off the printer and Clear the paper jam (if any)
I would try to use different tray. The paper pickup roller in one path may be worn out.
eg Sheet feeder or multipurpose tray.
Load paper in new tray
Set the application to use new tray

Ensure you sue the right thickness (gsm) of the paper. Quality of paper is crucial. Too thin; too thick can affect functioning.

Yellow light blinking and I cannot print

Most likely, the light that is blinking is the Resume light.

When this happens, you should check the following conditions:

The printer might be out of paper.
Place paper in the input tray, and then press the Resume button.

There might be a paper jam.

The printer cartridges are not installed correctly.

Middle light blinking message says paper

Look for any small rips of paper caught in a sensor back there. There are little "fingers" that the paper runs over and its all timed. if one of those sensors are jammed with something or sticky, error messages.

Paper light continually flashes won't print

when you lift the cover on the back of the printer there is a thin plastic sensor very delicate normally black in colour which detects whether there is paper in the tray or not.that sensor is slightly moved from its orignal position or broken , so this problem is coming.

thanks.

Paper jam

There could be a tiny piece of paper blocking the paper path or sensor. See if you can find any.
