I have a flotec sprinkler pump that lost its prime. I have troube-shot everything. The pipe that draws the water in from the canal is not cracked. The pressure valve at te end of that pipe works fine. I have narrowed the problem down to the pump itself. I opened it up, the seals are fine, the impeller spins when turned on. I cleaned the seals and put it back together, I pressurized the system and no water leakes from the pump, but when I turn it on, it only pushes a miniscuel amount of water to the sprinkler heads and barley has a suction. I am lost, any suggestions?
I have had a similar issue with my flotec pump. I have had to fix this problem several times. However, the problem keep coming back. The problem exsist with the fitting either going into or exiting the pump. The threads somehow work lose and allow air to get sucked in. This does not allow the pump to fully prime or reach cutoff pressure. Unfortunately, I have not figured out a permanant solution.
It might be that the pump is prewired at 230 volt and you are running a 115 power supply to it, if motor just humms and little water comes out this might be your fix
