The navigation button is not working correctly, when you go to turn volume up, it turns it down, when you turn it down, it turns it down - when plugged into the computer, it froze on the SanDisk start-up screen. Tried 20 second reset - got it off the start-up screen but button still not working - defective?? Had it for about 2 months only!

Assuming it is not a smart phone
when in a call, toggle the navigation control down. (that's the square surrounding OK button)
Smart phone has 2 options
1) volume toggle button on the side of the phone
2) Software > Apps> Settings > Volume
The usual problem is the voice volume is turned down. This can happen when you are adjusting the volume down just as turn by turn instructions are starting; thus you don't notice it happened, or someone else did it or software glitch caused it or Murphy's law. The way to fix it is turn vol up to max and set navigation and start driving. As you get to navigation points where you would expect the turn by turn instructions hit the up volume button. Keep trying it will only go up whilst instructions are being broadcast. Try using repeat last directions function to get a better shot at it. This happened to me and this was the fix, odd but true. Also see if there is a turn by turn vol level in settings. Hope it works for you.

There are 2 types of volume in your nokia phone that you can increase or decrease.
The first one is the ring tone volume. You can either increase or decrease your ring tone volume by pressing the menu key then go to settings, go to profile, select any desired profile go to personalise go to ringing volume, then increase or decrease by using the navigation button to the right or left.
The second way is to increase or decrease the volume of the speaker of your phone which i think is the cause of your question (this volume enables you to hear clear and loud the person on the other phone). You increase or decrease the volume by making a call, as soon as the call starts ringing, press the navigation key to right to increase the volume or to the left to decrease the volume.
Does your handset have a PROG button? Press that, then press the VOL+ button until you come to RINGER VOL: OFF. Press SELECT button, then use the ^ (VOL+) key until you get the desired volume level. Press SELECT again, then OFF. You're good to go.
