Using a mac,so don't think the port is relevant - my other printer works perfectly connected by usb to the same place

    Print queue is empty

    Using the latest drivers

I beleive my Mac is totally screwed - as HP sent me a list of instructions and half of what it said should happen did not

I am going to have to give up and have a 1000$ printer sit around unused.....

    Thanks for the suggestions anyway

Maybe you already tried this, but I think is worth asking: Is your printer installed on the right port ? Is your print queue empty ? Are you using the latest HP drivers ?

My hp2600n says to replace supplies on display but doesn't say which cartridges need refilling. How do I determine which cartridges need replacing?

If you can print at all, go the the information menu and print the supplies status page which should show which supplies are at 0.

Printer says "ready" but won't print

try checking cable if you have another cable try that after rebooting computer! if that doesnt work go to hp's website look up the units driver for the correct operating system reinstall the drivers from hp's website then reboot and try your printer again it should work! 99.9 percent of time error printing to queue is a communication problem from the driver being corrupt or a error in your system registry.
good luck!

Printer will not print

First check the cartridge and make sure all of them are working properly, do check the cartridge interface to the printer, even a tiny dust can create this problem. Reinstall the driver. I hope you can install the driver to your system. Check the usb cable, if possible, try with another cable. Reset the printer settings to factory default. Good luck

sadia's issue could be drivers, paper size settings, media type, memory, mechanical issues, supply issues, application issues, but because of the vagueness of the query it is almost impossible to nail it down. please be more specific. the more detail you can relay, the more help you will receive. Printing blue on top of pink

There is a common colour problem with this model printer it is caused by the scanner assembly (there's a fan that blows megenta into the scanner unit).
Solution is to clean the scanner mirrors.
