Question about Toshiba 42H81 42" Rear Projection Television

Toshiba 42H81 Blue crt is flickering occasionally and I have to constantly adjsut the blue color intensity so the screen isn't overly blue. Any help would be appreciated.

I had a similar trouble not long ago.. it was the digital conv. board .... it'S was rather expensive at about 345$ canadian w/o the job... it's your call, but my last customer didnt want to shell out the money for this kind of tv..... sorry fir the bad news

I had to adjust the brightness to 100% and you can still barely see it and it has a blue tint

This TV is CRT driven and when the brightness is a issue you would need to diagnose the Blue CRT and or the Fly back transformer.

Many times the transformer is not providing enough power to that CRT witch can cause this to happen.

Without the TV in front of me it would be difficult to pin point.

Also you would want to consider if the TV is out of Focus thus causing this blue tint, Here is a on line part store that can help you in purchasing the parts for the tv if your interested in Do It Yourself repair.

Screen turns blue after 5 minutes of operation

Hello, the blue color if excessive in intensity is due to a probable HV block, intermittent blue amp. or an intermittent K to A internal short in the blue CRT. either one of these circuits will require diagnostics done by an electronics tech. Repair cost of either one of this problem will run over 390 dlls, a lot more if the problem turns out to be a defective CRT. Hope this helped.

Projection TV sets have several common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

Symptoms:

Screen Looks 3-D
Colors wont align
Screen may look distorted
No Audio/Video - makes a chirping sound.

Symptoms

Dull Video, Washed out
White/Bright looking video
Halos around objects
Red/Orange looking

if its a CRT monitor then you wont have a problem, the all get decrepid and loose color flicker then eventualy die.
i say use it till it dies then get a new one or get a new one befor it dose damage to your eyes, a nice TFT screen will do.

How did the repairman prove the blue CRT is bad ? Did he cover
the CRT leaving a good red & green video with no flickering or did
he cover the red & green and observe the flickering in blue...?
Did he discuss the hyper module with you ?.........T.

where can I find suitable replacement remote for my Toshiba model 61X81 television that will give me most of my television features. I was given this television but they did not have the remote and I was watching the demo and the remote that I does not even come close. Short of buying a exact model replacement from Toshiba, or eBay , is their a suitable 'clone' that will do the job.
