Question about GE GSH25JSTSS Stainless Steel Side by Side Refrigerator
The manual booklet mentions that the frig could have high-pitched "HUMMM... WHOOSH..." sound or pulsating sound from the compressor while it's operating. However, I consider it's quite noisy. I can hear the noise from upstair. What can I do? Please help. Thanks in advance.
You should not hear it from that far away. It sounds like it may be compressor related. The only thing you could check to make sure is remove the lower rear cover and check the condensor fan and listen to the compressor to see if thats where the noise is cmming from. Check the fan in the freezer too.

it most likley is ice hitting the evaporator fan blades. if you remove the frozen food in the freezer and the shelves you will see in the back a large cover that is removeable. take the cover off and make sure there is not a lot of frost at the evaporator and the fan on top of it. if there is frost at the fan it was caused by warm air getting into the unit some way. maybe a door was left ajar and no one noticed. could also be due to a bad door seal. but clear the frost away and the noise will be gone.
