Question about Mad Dog Multimedia (MD16XDVD9) DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner

1 Answer

My MD16XDVD9 doesnt work. Its power is on with the small greeen light flickering and the bigger green light steadily on. but the the DVD tray doesnot open automatically. Even if it is force-opened and a disc inserted, it doesnt play and the computer says "please insert disc". It looks like as if the instrument is in Standby mode or so how can i make it working?

Have you got it set on an IDE cable on it's own and if so have the jumper at the back set to master the other thing to do is power of pc and remove ide cable from all devices and leave power cable to burner then torn on pc if you have removed power and ide cable from hard drive then when pc boots in press button on cd,dvd drive to open tray then place cd lense disk or any cd in drive tray press close button and let device kick in if it picks up disk then try with a dvd disk with power on pc if all goes well try with a ifferent Ide cable to motherboard and reconnect harddrive and power up if all goes well the pc should recagonise it if not then get it replaced

IS IT ON?...DOES CDROM HAVE POWER GETTING TO IT FROM PC? Next to open/close switch there is a small pin-hole. Push a paperclip into this hole and gently pull out tray...try gently pushing tray back in and watch for a blinking green light;if none either the cdrom is not getting power, or it has quit working

The Disk Tray will not open (TDK DED 440 DVD driver)

The lubrication inside your device may be insufficient or some mechanical problem has occurred inside preventing the device to open. Now, look at a very "small hole" near the Tray's front cover. If you see it, get a very small pin or even a needle to fit to that small hole. Now, press the "open" button in your device and then push that pin or needle in the hole at the same time to help the device to open.

A game is stuck in the tray. The green light is

There is a way to manually remove it. First you will want to unplug the power for a few minutes to let your Xbox reset. Re-attach the power cord and see if you can now eject your DVD. If that did not work turn the power off and unplug it. Remove the faceplate on you Xbox console. You will need a thick paper clip or something similar. Straighten one end of it out. With the faceplate removed you will see 2 small holes right underneath the DVD player and one hole to the right.
Since Microsoft decided to use 3 different DVD drives the procedure will vary. If you have a Samsung or Toshiba drive use the small hole on the right. Should be right underneath the X on the DVD drive faceplate. Push your straightened paper clip in the hole until you feel it hit the gear. The gear needs to be spun from left to right. Poke around until you find it then push in gently until you feel it move. You will see the tray start to move out.
For Hitatchi DVD drives go for the first hole on the left. Beng DVD drives will use the middle hole. This requires the most pressure to get the gear to turn. You will see the tray start to move take your time and do not push too hard in case you are missing the correct spot. Once the tray starts to eject you can pull on it slightly to help it open. You should now be able to remove your Game.

Unplug every thing such as the CD/DVD trays, Hard Drive, take out any dial-up modems, network cards, video cards, etc. unplug even the mouse and keyboard. Try powering on agan. If the computer seems to work, then power back off and plug in one device then power on computer. Keep doing that until you find the bad device preventing the computer from turning on.

If that doesnt work then carefully remove the RAM completely then carefully replace the RAM. Now with on the Dynex power supply plugged in to the motherboard, try again. If still nothing, remove the RAM and try again. If it still does the same thing, then the motherboard is dead and needs replaced. If instead you get a series of beeps then the problem MAY be bad RAM. Try different RAM. If that doesnt help. The only thing left is taking out the CMOS battery, It is the coin shaped battery on the motherboard. Take it out and wait 20 seconds then put it back. I doubt it is the CMOS battery, but at this point it is worth a shot.

The DVD tray doesnt eject

either it is the ribbon wire, the motor that ejects the tray or the belt that connect the tray and motor is the problem. In case the above three are fine, replace the drive as the sparking might kill your moterboard.

Question about installing Roxio Creator 8.2 XE with Mad Dog drive I recently purchased an external Mad Dog MegaStor 18x Triple Format Drive with the software CD that contained Roxio Creator 8.2 XE. And I have some concerns about the installation. I have worked with computers for many years and I?m not a new when it comes to installing software. But this one was different. The only reason I say that is because my security/virus checking software was freaking out like never before. I am running Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 under Windows XP. The warning messages seemed unusual and excessive. It isn?t unusual for the security software to give me a heads-up when a program write to the registry. It is usually a blue-bordered pop-up window. But in addition to that, there were frequent "squeals" accompanied by red-bordered windows with ominous messages like: 1. Process is trying to install driver and gain full access to operating system. Security control will not be available anymore. 2. Process attempting to gain full access to the system by installing a driver. Writing system registry values from file C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\DLARTL_N.sys. 3. Process attempting to gain full access to the system by installing a driver. Writing system registry values from file C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\DRVNDDM.sys. 4. Suspicious driver installation, Running process (PID:2604): c:\Program Files\Roxio\DLA\dlauninw.exe 5. Running hidden installation into system: Program module installed and registering in registry key \REGISTRY\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run with value DLA without user interaction. This activity is similar to Trojan Downloader/Dropper. The warning that bothered me the most was the, "security control will not be available anymore." Excuse me? I?m installing multimedia software and I have to give up security control? I don?t get it. Of course I understand that I need to install drivers like I?ve done dozens of times but I?ve never seen messages like this before. Is this normal for this type of software?
