I JUST BOUGHT MY LCD PHILIPS TV YESTERDAY AND HAVE HAD 3 DIFFERENT PROBLEMS SO FAR. THE SCREEN WILL START BLINKING (NOT THE GREEN LIGHT TO RED OR THE OTHER WAY AROUND) BUT THE WHOLE TV SCREEN. THE PICTURE STAYS THE SAME BUT THERE IS THIS BRIGHT BLINKING OF THE WHOLE SCREEN OVER THE PICTURE. THAT HAPPENED ABOUT AN HOUR AFTER TURNING IT ON FOR THE FIRST TIME. IT HASN'T DONE IT BUT ONCE SINCE. THE SCREEN HAS A DARK 4 INCH THICK BAR OR DARKNESS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN FROM THE TOP TO BOTTOM OF THE TV. THE COLORS ARE DARKER ALL IN THE 4 INCH BLOCK OR LINE. IF THE COLOR IS SUPOSSED TO BE WHITE IS SHOWS UP JUST IN THAT AREA AS A DEEP YELLOW. I WENT OUT FOR AN HOUR OR SO AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE SPEAKERS WERE SCREECHING AND THEN STOPPED. I HAVE FOLLOWED THE SET UP DIRECTIONS TO A T. SO, I AM FREAKING OUT. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREAT. THE COLOR WAS NOT DISTORTED WHEN I FIRST TURNED IT ON AND SET IT UP. THANKS SOOO MUCH!!

Hello wisportsfan2,
Try the following first:
If you are using a direct cable connection from the wall outlet;
If you are using a coaxial connection from the Cable or Satellite box to the TV;
If you are using a video connection (CVBS, S-Video, YPbPr, HDMI) from the source (DVD, Cable or Satellite box) to the TV;
If you are using an
HDMI connection from the source (DVD, Cable or Satellite box) to the TV;
If you are sure you have selected the correct input or channel but still have no picture and sound;
You can try the "Whack" method first though..Just smack or whack the
set with your hand or fist around the cabinet
to see if that will either aggravate or restore the picture. If so, it
means there is a loose connection or cold solder joint of some kind,
which you may be able to repair yourself if you have the soldering
skills.
If it still does not work, it looks like there is a problem with the vertical blanking due to faulty ribbon connectors, although there are several things that can cause it.
But in my honest opinion, it is best to
have an expert technician come in and do some tests on it in order to
diagnose the root cause of the issue. It is not
easy to fix this yourself, if you have no experience, as there are a lot
of parts that have to be removed before you can reach the components. It could
be as simple as a loose connector ribbon or a bust capacitor, but it could also be more
complicated. Hence, in my honest opinion, better get a qualified technician.

It is the low voltage power supply. I just had my set repaired and it had the same symptoms. My set is out of warranty. The repair cost is around $200.00.

replacing ssb for 4 blink error was correct as error is communication failure specific to micro processor on ssb. getting an alternate error after replacing ssb would suggest either wrong ssb or defective ssb. verify vendor number on ssb tuner on original and new ssb and if same reorder that board and if not order per original board

I habve seen this issue with this sets and if the vertical lines are in the menu as well and there are more than one line the panel would need to be replace. Contact a tech in your area to see if then can put the set in white screen mode and leave it there for a couple of hours and see if the lines go away. If not then the set would need a panel.

SOURCE: Have a Magnavox 37 inch lcd hd tv When I turn the
sounds like the audio / digital board is going bad ---- they are about 130 refurbished and 300 new ----- look for one online before you pay an overpriced service tech who really doesnt know how to fix these tv's ----
I called the service support and they gave me three companies in Nevada --- each one of them had no idea what the codes meant, but would look at the TV for 225.00 - sounds like they need new companies to do their repairs on warranty

Mine will not respond to the remote control to turn it on. It seems to get stuck in standby mode and won't wake up.
