That will happen if the monitor isn't getting a video signal from the computer. Are you sure your computer is actually starting up properly? Are you hearing the normal Windows startup sounds? If the computer and Windows seem to be working properly, the video card or integrated video may have failed. Have you tried another monitor to verify that the computer is working?

If the monitor is in fact bad, it would be better to replace it than to try a repair. New LCD monitors are quite inexpensive and you'll gain lots of desk space.

My HP Pavilion F1703 monitor power light turns blue for a second then flashes yellow and doesn't come on... Is there a possible fix for this?

You should try it with another PC amd also check the video cable frist, it is the monitor problem, then please see my album for the common problem with this model.
This model was known for bad solder joints, which can cause damage to the transistors also.

I have an hp pavilion a720n desktop with an hp pavilion mx70 monitor and windows xp home. There is a problem with the color displayed on the monitor. I see mainly black and white, but blue shows up fine....

First of all you can check the computer by connecting another monitor to it to see if the problem goes away...if so then the problem would be in the monitor. If not , then I would try to change the video grafics card in the computer(assuming you don't have built in video). If you have built in video on the mother board then you will either need to replace the motherboard or disable the onboard video and install a video card

When I start the computer the Windows XP Logos light up on the Monitor (HP w1907) when the computer starts the Logo disappears and the monitor goes to sleep

If this monitor (HP w1907) is going into sleep mode the normally blue power led will change to yellow. This indicates loss of video signal or possible out of range resolution. If the picture goes dark and the power lite stays blue, you have a backlight malfunction. It can be an inverter power fault but this model mostly has worn out backlights causing a shutdown condition.

My hp pavilion F1703 monitor goes blank about every 30 seconds.

Thsi model has known problem with bad solder joints due to contamination, you need to remove the old solder on the four inductor leads, clean the leads eal well and resolder, see my pictures here: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/HP%20F1703/
Al so look to see any one of the capacitors have bulging top, they should be completely flat top.

Wont start up

Check physical connections first, check monitor cable if securely plugged in and then check power light of monitor. If power light on monitor is amber or yellow it means that monitor is not getting a signal from cpu/ tower. Try to do a power drain on the computer, remove power cable at the back of the computer and then press and hold the power button for 10 secs, after that plug in power cable again and restart the computer.Check if there is any connection if not then try to use another monitor, a known good one. If you get a video from another monitor it means monitor is already defective.

Hi

You have parts on the power supply board which are going bad. You can send it to a company like mine or take it to a local repair person.

Monitor won't come on right away

Sounds like the CRT is starting to go bad cause its taking longer and longer for it to boot up. CRT's aren't available now so a new monitor would be the only option.

Yellow light blinking next to blue on/off light

The "tin can" symbol below the yellow light signifies a hard disk. The yellow light is a hard disk activity indicator, it is nothing to worry about. It is just tell you that the computer is accessing the hard drive.

MY HP PAvilion F1903 19 " gone black blank

Problem is generally dry solder joints around the inverter transformer on the inverter PCB.
