Question about Sony Cybershot S650 Digital Camera

Lens stuck My Sony Cybershot lens is stuck in the out position. It occured when I went to take a photo, the camera turned on and then the battery went dead; not enough juice to turn it off. It was frozen like that for about a day and a half, I did not have access to an outlet. Once I charged the battery, it not struggles to move but is stuck. The LCD display says, "turn power of and then back on" Is there a trick to un freezing it? I don't want to send it in for repairs, my warrenty is expired. Thanks!!!!

Hello, I have read other forums that suggest that quite literally rapping or swatting the unit on its bottom half can actually solve the problem and get things going again. I am going to try it with mine. I too have a stuck lens. Here is a link that details this crude method: http://www.pechorin.com/m/2005/09/10/Sony_DSC_MVC_camera_repairs-245400-11.html

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-S750. It will not turn off or on. The battery is full. It turned on earlier today and then suddenly just would not turn off or on. The lens is in the "on" position...

I have a similar Sony (DSC-L1) and have had the same problem. Remove the battery and SD card, vacuum (or blow on) the lens surround. Seems that grit has stuck between the lens and the cover.
If all else fails, try inserting the battery and gently pushing the lens the lens in. NOT guaranteed, but if this fails, try a photo dealer.

Sony Cybershot Lens Stuck inside!!!

I have the exact same problem with my Cyber-shot; the lens is stuck inside. After trying everything to loosen it (like wedging a razor knife between the sections, even dropping it or banging it against a book, etc) non of which I recommend, I finally got it open by PUSHING on the black telescoping section surrounding the lens itself. For some reason, this worked!

My sony cybershot dsc-p200 lense is stuck.

Sony Cybershot DSC-P200 worked great then the lens stuck in the open position.
Read on this site some one suggested gently manipulating the lens and tapping it then turning it on. It worked!!

Lens stuck open

I have to agree with one of the comments previously posted. I too had a Sony DCS-S700 and the lens was stuck open. Whenever I turned the camera on, the Sony Cybershot logo appeared and dissappeared, turning the camera off. I noticed the lens was crooked, so I moved it in the center direction and the camera worked again.

Lens Stuck

Same problem guys!!! LENS HAD GOT STUCK - ABOUT ONE THIRD OUT after a knock. After lots of playing, and tapping and batteries in and out tried the whole twisting and pulling thing whilst turning off and on.

After a few minutes it came free and whole lens popped out. I then had to twist the outer part of the lens to straighten that up and allow it to fully retract. Works a treat now!

PS Tried the Sony online chat support - useless!!!!
