TrueMobile won't connect to my network

I installed a TrueMobile 1180 Mini PCI wireless card in my Dell Latitude C810. My network shows up but the card will not connect to it. I'm set up with a linksys wireless router.

    Did you reboot the router?

Are you using WEP / WPA / WPA2 or some other form of encryption?

Are you filtering by MAC address?

Over the past few months I have seem more of this issue. I am beginning to think that there may be Microsoft updates that could be conflicting with the wireless network adapter config. But this is only a speculation.

In the mean time, you may have a faulty wireless card. If the unit is under warranty, have Dell replace it. If not, you could disable the internal one and purchase a Linksys Wireless G or N USB adapter from Staples....just to rule it out.

WIRELESS CARD FOR LAPTOP

Hi

Your did not provide any info on which card you have or wish to install; USB, PC Card, or internal mini PCI card.

For mini PCI cards, first you have to open up the D600 laptop and install the Hardware (ensure to connect the antenna cables) then power-up and install the software (drivers and utility).

For USB and PC Cards, follow the device manufacture's recommended steps. Generally, for USB devices, the software (drivers and utility) needs to installed first before the hardware is connected.

If you have successfully installed the hardware and software (driver/utility) you can scan, choose and connect to an available wireless access point or wireless ad-hoc setup. This can be done through the wireless manufacture's utility or from Windows Wireless Zero Configuration utility. If you use the manafucature's utility, Windows Wireless Zero Configuration utility will not work; will not scan or list available wireless network.

Hi, Sometimes the built-in Windows Wireless Configuration Utility fouls up. You may have to install and use the Client Manager Application for the TrueMobile 1150 Wireless Network Card. This is better explained at Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turn up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.

My laptop cannot connect to my local network (LAN)

Assuming you initially set up the router using the wired lan adapter and lead, enabled DHCP in the settings. First stand right next to your router; Dells wireless is a little tempremental, go to control panel and in there should be Dell wireless monitor, open this up refresh it and see if it finds any wireless networks, if so try to connect. Dissable your wired network lan adapter. Go to the properties of your wireless card and on the TCP/IP line click properties again and ensure that obtain an ip address automatically is selected, press ok and restart the pc.
