Question about HP iPAQ H5555 Pocket PC

1 Answer

Ipaq h5555 I have a used IPAQ H5555 that was given to me by my brother. He stopped using it about a year ago. I plugged it in to charge and the screen flashed very breifly, less than one sec) and now nothing happens at all. No charge lights, no power on. I have tried both hard and soft resets to no avail. Help please.

Shouldn't the unit work while plugged in even if it has a dead battery?

5550 not powering on

was the battery a exact replacement to the one you removed?

also do you have the power adaptor for it put the old battery back in and see if it will run off the adaptor with the old battery plugged in and then you know the issue is with the new battery and not the unit itself.

IPAQ wireless connectivity

always start with the simplest answer first so make sure you have WiFi turned on. Think back, have you changed the wireless security on your router? If so you may need to re-enter the network details or add your iPAQ's MAC address to the access control list on the router. In the bottom right-hand corner of the home screen you should have a small HP Wireless symbol, if you tap it you should get your HP Wireless control panel on screen and can 1: turn WiFi on and off, 2: manually enter the WiFi network details and 3: search for WiFi networks in range.

Just "turned off"....

Was it charging over the weekend? If not, try to recharge the device again... Those devices would on occasion drain the batter overnight -- didn't happen all the time and was apparently caused by unusual software/applications combinations... The battery could be going bad again as well.

My iPAQ will not charge or turn on ...

Can you get the iPaq hooked up directly to AC power? There's apparently a charging threshhold for badly depleted batteries that the USB port cannot get over.

H5555 sync problem

When you attach your ipaq, you should be able to go into My Computer and view the ipaq as a removable storage device, seeing the actual files and folders located on your ipaq. I would attempt to transfer the files via copy and past if Activesync cannot do it. If that solves the problem then its simply that Activesync is encountering some sort of memory overflow, if it still cannot sync then there is a problem with transfer protocol its using.

For anyone coming across this with the same problem the solution is probably going to be reflashing the ROM. If you don?t have the CD you can usually buy one on Ebay for $5.
