Hey my Rca opal M4002 is connected to my computer and the power is on the usb port is working properly and when i connect it usually it says usb connected and now it doesn't say that no more?
No, that's not a virus. Maybe your computer is simply out of date. Check add/remove hardware. Does it show up at all in My Computer? Do you have Windows 2000 or XP?
My M4018A Opal would not boot up, when connected to the computer it would connect, then disconnect over and over again. When I finally unplugged it from the computer it would say that I needed to reformat the device.
It seemed to be able to connect the device and "format" the device. I connected to Windows Media player and am synchronizing a a song now...it is taking a long time to sync a 5mb song...

if you want to delete music from your Opal M4002 mp3 player, all you need is use the usb of the player and connect to your computer. If the computer recognizes your usb then a folder will pop up and you choose open folder. Then you can right click on the music you want to delete from the player. That is all you have to do.
Download the latest firmware upgrade from www.rcaopal.com to restore the player. The firmware upgrade file will be on the "Download Upgrades" section of the website.
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
Maybe you can delete that song by connecting your MP3 to the computer or any pc that is available. Once you have connected, you can browse the file on the drive designated by the computer.
By using the computer you can add more songs or you can delete the song that is not necessary.
