I just purchased a Logitech QuickCam Pro5000 webcam and I recorded videos but cannot play them back. Any suggestions as to what may be the problem?
Thanks

Re: Can't play videos
This problem is most probably cause by CODEC incompatability. IE: Your Camera saves in one format that your Playback program cannot identify or use.. Please check as to the "Format" that the Cam saves in... and then obtain and install a compatible CODEC to "Play" the recorded video. Also check screen resoloution colour depth and Overlay settings.

SKYPE VIDEO PROBLEM To test if the Logitech QuickCam is functioning, check the USB cable; make sure it is connected properly. Then click on Start - All Program - Logitech - Logitech QuickCam and see if you can get the camera to capture your image/video. If this works then the fault is with the Skype configuration. Sometimes the WEBcam settings drop off and the WEBcam need to be selected again. Open Skype - Tools - Options - Video Settings and select the Logitech QuickCam Also check the Audio Settings for the Microphone THEN click on Save. Avoid connecting the WEBcam to an USB hub. SKYPE MICROPHONE PROBLEM If the person cannot hear you then, either your microphone driver not installed or not working OR the microphone is not configured in Skype. To test your microphone then click on Start - All Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound recorder. Then record your voice and then play it back. If this is OK then the microphone need to be configured in Skype. To configure the microphone - Open Skype - Tools - Options - Audio Settings for the Microphone THEN click on Save.
Try this free webcam test site. If you don't see yourself immediately click on the drop down box below the Live Camera window to choose your Logitech. You can then record yourself and play it back. On the playback your webcam fps will appear below the play window. If you still can't see yourself then your software driver is not loaded. Install it from disc or from the Logitech web site.

Try testing it, last time I checked skype has a test section, its hard to find, but its there. You just talk into the mic and skype records it. Then play back.
It is possible the mic isn't working.
Before you consider taking it back, make sure you follow the instructions to the letter.
