You need to buy cd-r's/cd-rw's marked "COMPACT DISC DIGITAL AUDIO" you may have bought cd-r's for use on a PC only as these can't be used on a home audio recorder unless they've been prerecorded on a PC. hope this helps?

I need to find the correct brand of recordable cd's for this model. Classic cdr201 recorder

Any CD-R will play, if your player is picky about the recorded discs, make sure you record it at a very low speed. 2X is optimal but very few actual recorders support such speed, try the lowest one.
Also use high quality discs like Verbatim, the best ones have a blue background on the record side.

Classic cdr 200

I finally figured out what the prob is fo you....you may be using the wrong CD like I was.  You can't use a DATA/MUSIC CD you have to use a MUSIC only CD...try the GOLD colored Maxell CD's that say Music on them...I bought some and it works perfectly
