When I press record on my pioneer CD recorder, it comes up on the display "pro-disc". The red record light will not come on, and I can not get it record, just play CD's. It does recognize that the blank CD is blank, and will display "new disc" then when I press record, it just displays "pro-disc". Does anyone know how to correct this?

You should use consumer cd's that are rather expensive. You probably tried to record a recordable cd-rom (a cheap computer disc). It's not possible to burn a pro-disc (computer disc) by using your Pioneer, and that's why you got that message on the screen. Refer to the user manual of your cd recorder and learn what sort of blank cd you should use.

You can only use Music CD-R with the logo of Digital Audio, no regular CD-R for data will not work with any CD Recordable, it doesn't matter the brand of CDs. Remember that, I have a player like your and Sony, and that's the catch.
If the red indicator on the record button does not light, reload a record-able dics, wait a few seconds until "NO TOC" and "CR-R" (or "CD-RW") indicators light on the display, and press the record button again. BE sure your using the CD -R or -RW disc and make sure to use a disc bearing the "Digital Audio" mark on it.
MANUAL RECORDING FROM COMPUTER HEADPHONE SOCKET.. FIRST RIGHT LEAD REQUIRED YOU NEED STEREO 3.5mm stero jack plug to lef right phono male leads...
prepare for manual record place jack in computer headphone socket. check correct socket play track on computer their should be no sound. if sound present in wrong socket... if ok place phono left right into analogue aux inputs on cdr recorder.next make shure you have blank scratch free cd .next press ext(ernal) source repeatedly until the required input is selected i.e digital analogue optical etc..when auto track is on the disk will number automatically.with auto track on it their needs to be 2.7 second gap to rec number change. with the recorder stopped press rec type five times to enter in the manual record standby mode. manual start s to flash and the display shows REC EXT MAN followed by WAIT.after a few seconds press record . play the source track ie on your computer to set record level on cd recorder.. adjust audio card settings or volume control on pc etc .rotate easy jog/enter key until on the record /play level bar all the blue led are alight but not the red( clipping) display shows xx decibel eg 3bd. stop the source material (track on computer get ready to record ii.e to start track again..to start recording set you track going wilst pressing RECORD on the cd recorder, and immediatley the source material playing. the track number and recording time left appear in display . if check input message is displayed check the connections are correct etc .to stop recording press stop on cd recorder . update lights up and arrow goes out. after recording display will show UPDATE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS WRITTING TOC.. IF YOU WANT TO PLAY THIS DISC ON NORMAL CD PLAYERS YOU NEED TO FINALIZE THE TRACK . HOPE THIS HELPS..yammandan.
after you've finished recording press 'finalize' the recorder will then get ready for finalizing and then a countdown time will appear in the display eg '1:20' once this appears press 'play' and the recorder will start to finalize and the digits will count down to zero, once this has finished, your disc is finalized.
Do you mean "pro disc?". Home CD Recorders are limited to recording on CD-Audio or CD-Music blank media. CD-R's are considered 'pro'. Get the right media.
Put in a blank or unfinalized disc, press Record until Record Manual shows. This is similar to an old-school cassette deck being in Pause/Record mode. That should do it. The input signal will be present on the audio outputs (both digital and analog).
The manual isn't specific about how long you can remain in Record Manual mode without starting to record on the CD. My Pioneer has a Monitor function so I don't need to place a blank disc for this.
If the CD recorder records data discs, and is not a CDRW recorder it will not record on them, also there would be no reason to record a audio CD if the unit records data discs
Hi John
You should be able to record without the remote control; make sure you have a blank disc in place, then press the 'RECORD' button on the front; it should go into recording standby mode. When you want to start recording, press the button below the REC BALANCE buttons (the play/pause button, marked with a triangle and a II symbol) and this should get you going.
Try it and get back to me if not.
Hope it works! Kev
I experienced this problem a long time ago, i believe that it was because i tried to use a normal data cd-rw but the unit only reads audio discs. It has to be a cd-rw for audio only (will say cd-rw audio on the disc, whereas if it is a data disc it will simply say cd-rw.) Hope this helps..
I had the same problem and found that I was using the wrong type of CDs. If you look on the CD you have to use the CD that says Compact disc digital audio Recordable or Compact disc digital audio Rewrittable. After I used the Digital ones I could record on it. I then tried the CD on the PC and it worked. You can look on the top of the unit and see the information if you still have it. Hope this helps you.
Dug out an old TDK CD-R XG disc and the red (record) light came on and off we went, transferred vinyl John Cale 'Honi soit' to CD.
Ta.
it plays cds ok, but will not record onto blank discs
