Put them in the slotts they are made for only. The sizes are usually alittle different to prevent you from making a mistake. On the printer behind the cartidge there will be a design showing you what to do and how to do it. Get under a good light so you can see and read the info easily.

SOURCE: I put a new colour

I am not sure what you mean by colors come out wrong. However, if the new cartridges are refills, there is the possibility that the refillers damaged the cartridges.

Try this: remove the color cartridge from the printer and check the bottom of the cartridge for ink blobs. Blot any ink around the silver screen-like area. Try not to touch that silver area. If there is no ink there, reinstall the cartridge and go to the Printers and Devices where your printer should be listed. Right click on the printer and select printer properties which will bring up a properties window where you select the Services window and select "clean the print cartridges" (this is Windows 7 but XP and Vista are not much different) Select ok and wait for the printer to go through its gyrations. Don't select "prime" at this time. When the printer finishes, try printing again. If the colors are still messed up, you could return to the clean selection and select "prime" in the next window (not likely to help).

If these don't work, you can run the clean cycle a couple of times, but chances are the cartridge has failed inside, allowing the inks to run together. Whether it is new or refilled, just return it for a replacement.

On kodak esp 1.2 is there a head cleaning switch, as printer worked 3 weeks ago asked for ink, which has been done but now saying no ink

check your print head it is stopeed up, remove it and clean with water just the jets, or use qtips, plain water no chemicals, Matt

Print only red and black

First, use the HP Printing Assistant software to check the ink-level in the tri-colour ink-cartridge.
If empty, refill or replace the ink-cartridge.

Then, use the same software to run a few "print-head-cleaning" cycles,
just in case that some of the "colour" ink-jets are clogged.

Inks are full. Printing has waded out. How do I clean ink cartridges?

go to ink management and select clean head for all colours

it will take 1 to 4 min

and your printer will work ok

Color ink cartridge show a full ink supply, but it won't print color.

It's possible that the ink-jets that spray the colour ink onto the paper have become clogged. Run the printer software, and select a "print-head-cleaning-cycle", to try to unclog those jets.

Printer is saying more then one ink tanks of the same colour is installed. Yellow. Then it is saying it isn't recognising the yellow ink

Do you have all Genuine Canon Ink Jet Cartridges?
If you don't then that could be the problem.
Otherwise, if you do, then I would try another yellow ink jet cartridge from Canon.

Prints colours but not black. new cartridges

the inkjets can get clogged up with old ink, with some inket rifils there is a solvent which disolves the dried ink, with some solvent in a saucer, sit the cartridgeuntil the solvent changes colour then the ink is getting though the jets

I have a hp 6500. It has started printing pink instead of black.

* printers mix in a bit of "colour" ink when you request BLACK,
so that the colour ink-jets do not dry-out. So, since your BLACK has become EMPTY, all you get is PINK,

* some printers mix colours to produce BLACK-ish colour.
Check that your CYAN and YELLOW ink-cartridges have not gotten to be EMPTY.

Printer HP Deskjet D1460 prints pink"..Instead of Black

The printed colours are an "additive" mix of the "primary" colours in your printer.

So, when the colour ink-jet cartridge is "out-of-ink" on one (or more) of its colours, the "mix" will be off, and the "wrong" colour will be the result.

Change the colour cartridge.

Before changing it, run a "deep-cleaning" cycle, using the HP Support software that was installed when you installed from the CD-ROM that came with the printer, to "clean" any/all "clogged" ink-jets -- i.e., a clog could be preventing one colour of ink from being sprayed onto the paper.

Colours not printing properly

You need to specifyy what printer you have.

If the jets are part of the cartridge like HP and Lexmark, the clean the contacts on the cartridge and the printer and try again. If no-go, replace the cartridge.

If it has only ink tanks like epson, you need to purge the ink channels that are not working... Magenta and yellow with cleaner and a syringe or sqeeze bulb.

Canon MP240 printer LCD alternates between P and 2.

Not sure about your machine but my Cannon would not work when my colour ink was low. The store I bought it says the manufacturer does this to sell coloured ink as well as black. The setting might say for black ink but there is a certain amount of colour goes in as well. I hardly ever used colour as I do business letters so I purchased a black ink jet which uses a black powder and I get 3000 pages for about 75 dollars worth of black jet powder.
