Re: Whirlpool Ultimate Care HD Plus Model #LSR8233EQ0...
My top load Kenmore washer is not spin. The washer and drain works fine. I found a broken "belt" like broken roberish ring on the bottom of the washer. There is not belt on this washer. (part 3 22712). Looks like something between the motor and spin is broken. How can it be fixed?

check the motor coupling,if the coupling is broken you'll hear the motor run but the agitiator won't move and no spin, the coupling connects the motor to the transmission.watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9K1KHEogf3c
Yes it does reverse. If the motor is running in agitate pull off the agitator and check the agitator drive (bell) (white plastic bell shaped) on top of the agitate shaft is not stripped. You should not be able to turn. To remove the agitator fill first about 8 in of hot water, drain and pull up on agitator with fingers under the bottom or a belt.
The most likely cause is the motor coupling, one on the motor and one on the transmission. UNPLUG POWER FROM WASHER. If it is broken your washer will fill and you will hear the motor running but nothing will happen, no agitation or spin. You will need to loosen the console, remove the cabinet drain pump and motor, then the motor coupling can be replaced on the motor and transmission. Part comes as a kit. Part number 285753a. there is a coupling between the motor and the agitator coming out of the gear box if you can hear the motor running when the agitator should be moving then that will be your best bet however if the motor is not running during what should be the agitation cycle then you are probably looking at the sequencer control Good Luck
