I have sound but no picture. This happen all of a sudden turned on tv no picture, had no lighting, no storms, no power surge. However a couple of times in the last 2 wks when I turned on the tv, the picture was distorted looked like you were looking through a bottle, picture was rounded and the colors were off. Turned tv off & on and it cleared up. I did try to unplug the set, let it sit for 2 days same problem.
YOU HAVE A BAD CONVERGENCE IC ON THE CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT BOARD-THIS PART CAN BE REPLACED ,SAVING SOME MONEY,,COULD ALSO BE A LOOSE CONNECTION ON THE IC...PROBABLLY NEED TECH ON THIS ONE --COST 'BOUT 100.00 TO 125.00!

Sets with PIP use two tuners--one for main and one for PIP---likely the main got hit with the static discharge during the storm----Here we always disconnect both power and cable when a storm.
There is a way around this (will lose PIP) with a cable box connected to the audio and video inputs on rear of set---bypass the tuners and use the box to change channels and provide signal.
Hi there!
One of reasons your tv not working, the thunder storm /lighting possibility has burnt your Tv micro processor. get a technician to check the power supply section too because during the thunder storm your TV circuitry received excessive voltage .
If is the main processor is burnt you have to change it for the TV to work .
A power supply section problem is what your experiencing which is a part of your television set. A defective MOSFET or switching transistor could be a problem that holds the power of your television. This is a very fast switching component which is very sensitive to current surge. A sudden surge of electricity may have caused this component to malfunction or become defective. A qualified electronic service technician can figure out the problem.
Something died in there - perhaps a capacitor or a solid state device just blowing and cracking into pieces. happens. Open up the set and see if you can spot it around the power supply area.
Well, no sound no picture = power supply unit
Sound no picture= flyback
picture no sound =tuner/audio logic
You get my drift?
You power supply is bad you replace it you got another new TV, with this digital conversion hitting I would rather advise you to get a nice flat panel and donate that one to Goodwill
Hi...I am sorry to say that I had this exact problem. It ended up being the upper and lower panel drives. I contacted Hitachi and even though my unit was out of warranty, they agree to pay for parts. I paid for labor myself, and it cost me $199.95.
Good luck with it...let me know how it turns out for you.
