Question about Samsung DLP HL-P4663W 46" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
It sounds like a fan running then binding up, but a visual of both fans shows no problem. Even replaced the small one! Just Replaced the bulb, because of previous bad bulb indicators on the front ,but the racket continues until the set shuts itself down in 30 seconds or so. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
That certainoy sounds like the color wheel assembly inside of the light engine is bad. The light engine is located here http://www.samsungparts.com/part_detail.asp?catalog%5Fname=Parts+and+Accessories&product%5Fid=BP96%2D00674A&search%5Fmodel=HLP4663W Good Luck

If in fact it is the color wheel and you order the part , can this be done in the home by the owner or does it require a tech to do the install? I have the simular DLP TV HL-R4667W and just got done replacing the projection Lamp myself, it was a pull and plug component. Took me about 3 minutes to change out. Ordered part on line cost$149.99 plus shipping ,but avoided the cost of labor, and taking to shop.
I called the authorized service shop to check on the color wheel problem ,they said it would take one day to fix and cost approx. $400.00 for part ,labor and tax, with me bringing the TV to the shop.
Love the TV, but I have not had it 2 years yet and it looks like its going to cost me about $600.00 in repairs so far when I replace the color wheel. HELP. The part on line is $97.00, plus shipping, that means labor is approx. $300.00 WHAT!, HELP.
