Two vertical lines one at 1/3 screen the other at 2/3's of screen
I have a Toshiba Model 57H81, for the first 15 minutes or so of being on the picture is normal. After about 15 minutes two vertical lines (sometimes red, sometimes green) appear at 1/3 and 2/3's of the screens width. Shortly thereafter white horizontal lines appear but are confined between the divisions made by the vertical lines. Each third of the screen has white horizontal lines which confined within the 1/3 section they develop in and are isolated from the next third of the screen. Then ghosting starts, the ghost is above the original image.
Since TV picture is normal when it first comes on it indicates that this is a heat related issue. I used a can of air to cool IC chips which removed the horizontal lines and ghosting. The chip that did the trick is the a 40 or 60 pin chip (unfortunately soldered in rather than in an IC plug)near the front of the left hand circuit board with a metal shield over it (looking at it from the front of the TV). I have not located the cause of the vertical lines yet. I have not been able to find a service manual with schematics on the television yet either. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
My Toshiba 65HX81 has a very thin vertical line running the entire height of the screen about 1/3 of the way across. This line is made up of very fast blinking dots of red and green. This is visible only when the tv is in a 480i or 480p mode. It is not visible when in 1080i. It's also visible when using the tv's internal tuner, so it's not an external component or cable problem. Wow, I can't believe I have been living with this problem for a full year now. My work around has been to buy an upconverting over component DVD player (hacked Oppo 970 HD) The only thing that is still a real pain in the @ss is my PS3 that actually downconverts 720p to 480p instead of upconverting the 720p to 1080i. Unbelievable I know but my solution to that problem is to not purchase those games. Wow, I can't believe I have been living with this problem for a full year now. I have not fixed it yet. But I have identified the chip that is causing the problem. If you have a service manual scan it and post it please, so I can show you the chip.

It sounds that there is any loose solder terminals at the main board, especially with the vertical scan output section circuit. It will be best to contact any service technician to get it repaired. Gopakumar Gopalan Google
My 3-year old 52-inch Toshiba flat panel TV (Model # 52RV53U, Serial # AM409000295) developed a display problem (purchased Aug. 2008, manufactured July 2008). Vertical multicolored lines appeared on the screen just left of center. The band of thin vertical bars is 5.5 inches wide. The lines are about 1/16-inch wide. They are stationary, always exactly in same place. They over-ride any other picture on the screen (no transparency). They are there all time even with no video inputs to the TV after the unit is turned on. See picture #1. The TV works well in every other respect, but, obviously, it is annoying to watch the picture with the color band blocking about 1/6 of the picture.

I already swapped out the TCON board with no improvement and replugged the TCON board cables with no improvement.
Most likely it is the flat panel tab bond failure (panel made by Samsung). Further resolution updates will be on my Facebook page.

You haven't vertical deflection.
The ff caused the problem.
1. Dry joints on the vetical section.
2. Blew Vertical ouput IC
3. Open yoke vetical winding.
4. No vertical output from jungle IC.
5. Open supply for vetical ic due to open fusible resistor.
I've suspect that you have #1 and #2 fault. This is not Diy so I've advice you to send to repair shop or look for a qualified tech to isolate the problem.
On this particular model there is one capacitor from the video process IC (jungle IC) that supplies the Vertical pulse that shoul be changed. This is an easy repair if you've ever soldered and would not be too costly for a repair shop to do it for you. The problem is a bad Vertical Output IC (usually mounted on an aluminum heat sink with the part on it labeled LA78?? ) and 1 or 2 bad capacitors. Some times you can even fix the problem by re-soldering the contacts of the IC- To find the IC follow the 4 wires that come from the Yoke (which is a contained coil of wires slipped over the neck of the picture tube(s)) back to the board. 2 of the wires go to the horizontal o/p and 2 to the Vertical o/p the thinner gauge wires are for the vertical. Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!
Hopefully you still have under warrantee. If not, sorry. This line if memory serves me right is because the tv has 2 picture panels on each side of the TV (they join up together to make one picture). Toshiba did not realize that the panels will start slipping thus creating this fine line from the top of the screen to the bottom. They have revamped the newer models and placed glass to adhere the panels together. Even though my TV was under warrantee I got a new one and have had this one for 1/2 year and now the picture just blew (there is sound but no picture.) Take your TV back if it is under warrantee.
My understanding is that you have 2 laptops with the same problem, if that is the case, you need to replace the lcd. When you have lines on lcd's, that is a sign of a bad lcd.
Possible bad solder connections in convergence circuit or vertical deflection circuit. This happens in alot of equipment. After warm up, expansion of joint pulls connections loose. Recommend not running like this, could cause component failure.
