I also dropped the cam on the lens! Locked up lens. I took the unit apart to discover an intense amount of micro-ciruits. Then I got a painful electric shock from the internal battery! Don't try it. I think I have ruined the camera further.

You will not fix it, the mechanism is not usually fixable If you take it apart ,you will then need the new camera.

Tells me to turn off and back on

Fujifilm finepix s2980 says turn camera off and turn it back on. Sounds silly but someone on here said drop camera from about 2to 3 foot on to carpeted ground, and mine started working again. something to do with lens gears not engaging. and the impact was enough to ironically make it re-engage. Thanks just saved £55 cost of camera and proberly more if I was to sent it for repair.

Dropped my camera and now the lens won't retract back in. When I press on the screen says lens error M425-12 (7f80). Can this be fixed and should I take it to a camera repair shop? Thanks

It could be one of two things, you bend the lens when dropped or the pins in the lens has become loose and are stuck.
You can try:
Taking the battery out for about 5 minutes and putting it back in to reset the camera. Also you can try hold the power button down and the ok or select button to to reset it. Also can hold the power and the menu button to try and force the lens out to dislodge the pins. If not,

The funny the is that I would have you drop it again on a carpet but on the opposite side to see if you can dislodge the pins from being stuck, try and have it land flat on its back from a decent height.
If the lens in bent you will have to bring it to a repair shop to have it fixed but it usually costs as much as a new camera.

Fuji S7000-dropped. lens at weird angle and will not retract. Sent it to Fuji and they said they had no parts for it and sent it back. I don't think they even opened it up as their phone rep tried so hard...

They were correct when they said they have no parts for it. First of all, the camera is a 7-year old model. The camera is manufactured in Japan mostly by robotic machines. The local Fuji distributor never had spare parts for it. There was no need for them to take it apart. Dropping it caused the lens to bend to an angle and stop working. You can't pound it out like an automobile fender, it must be replaced and with no parts available, they had no choice but to recommend a new camera. Consider buying a new camera. And learn from your mistakes (as we all should) and always use the camera strap.

Is the battery fully charged? Or is the battery near the end of its useful life? Some batteries hold a charge better than others-- I have 2, both used well, and one seems to last longer than the other...

'FOCUS ERROR'

If bought this at best buy and are still under your MFG warranty they can send it out to repair, or if you have their service plan, nothing you can do, this needs to be sent to a repair facility...

FinePix A500 Fuji camera "focus error"

Check out this link: www.digitalcamera-hq.com/digital-cameras/fuji-finepix-z1_question.html?qid=4289
After the basics, try dropping the camera on a carpeted area from about 2-3 feet. It worked for my Fuji Finepix A500 and 90% of the responders on the link. Everything on the web said it would cost ~$100 to fix. I was in the process of researching new cameras to buy and had nothing to lose by dropping it on the floor.
The error may be caused by debris in the zoom mechanism preventing it from working. Dropping the camera loosens the debris and voila!

I accidently dropped my FinePix 7.3 camera on my carpet.....It caused the lens to get stuck. It will not come out and I've replaced the batteries and everything. I was wondering what I could do?

tap it on the sides a few times, if that doesn't get it working then most likely you will need to send it for repairs.

Ofcourse you could try to fix it by yourself but I can say from experience that these cameras are a pain in the neck when your trying to put them back together.

Zoom Error

Lens unit has to come out to see whether the problem can be sorted out without spares going in. But unfortunately you have to go from the back on this model which means disconnecting and removing all 3 pc boards and the LCD screen and then loosening the lens mounting to slide the lens out from the back. You may have to dismantle the free lens further once it is out to see exactly what the damage is ( if any ).
