Hi,
An HO# display is an indication of an internal problem, HO2 - possibly optical pickup.
For certain reasons, I would strongly suggest that you bring your unit to a qualified service professional or an authorized center. If you have your own reason(s) of venturing to trying to fix it yourself, a couple of tricks you can try (should you be feeling adventurous and gamble on loosing it all together):
1. If it is an electronic problem, do a service reset; with no disc & tray closed power on, simultaneously press play, pause and back buttons (5 seconds). Unit should reset indicated by blinking of display. If this does not work, try with the power off, press the 3 button then power on; or
2. If it is a mechanical problem, gently shake the unit to and fro. The idea is to partially dislodge the eye from its position, it might have been stuck. Opening the unit will also serve the same since you can do visual inspection. Look for any foreign object along the rail (sliding bar) or any possible obstruction to the operation of the mechanism inside.
If none works, you're back to the first suggestion.
Hope this works out for you and give you some ideas. Pls post again how things turn up and/or if you need more information. Good luck and kind regards.
Could be it does not like the brand of dvd discs, if they are dvd burnt discs. You need to be more specific, is it reading any dvds at all??? If it has no issues with cds, it may not be the driver, but if it is playing up, it would not hurt to try unistalling it and reinstalling also with an updated driver. good luck lilacgerry xxx
It could be a couple things...
#1. Over time, dust and deposits can accumulate on the laser that reads the disc. In many cases, DVD players with this problem can still read CDs. You could try a DVD laser cleaner, which is usually a disc that has a tiny brush glued onto it. Run the cleaning disc 2 or 3 times, and try it again. Try both CDs and DVDs, since CDs are easier to read than a DVD. 2. After a DVD player has been used for awhile, another common problem is that the laser in the DVD player becomes misaligned, inhibiting its ability to read DVDs. In many cases, DVD players with this problem will still be able to read a CD. I'd try a cleaning disc first, since the only way to fix this problem is to bring the unit to a service center for repair.
Let me know what happens after you get the DVD laser cleaner and run it. Hope this helps.
The problem centers round a spindle issue that is a known design flaw.
Basically what happens is that the spindle gets warm, expands, and is
then pushing on the top of the player . The following link shows a cheap fix..Hope it works for yours.
