Question about SanDisk Sansa c140 MP3 Player

6 Answers

Hello, having trouble with my mp3 player SanDisk c140.

Earlier today I was trying to add more music to my mp3 player the sandisk c140 and my computer froze, so I unhooked the player(which I don't think I did it the right way) and when I press the button to turn it on the SanDisk logo shows up and it looks like it just freezes and it won't show the music, and it looks like it is not playing anything. What should i do?

I have almost the same problem (same cause) however mine doesn't even boot up the logo screen anymore. However, maybe a like solution will work for all of us (trying not to admit I've bricked another one).

Solution is pretty simple.

Go to Settings on your device -> USB -> Change it to MSC.

When you connect it to your computer on Win2000 it will show as a drive. Open the drive you should see the folders. Drag and drop your mp3's into Music* folder. Or your videos into Video folder and your Photos to Photos folder.

Call Sandisk tech support, they'll walk you through a reset of the c140. If that doesn't work they will send you a new one.

Sansa c140 SanDisk

I had the same problem, first on the mp3 player under settings change the USB setting to MSC. Then plug the mp3 player back into the computer. Open the My Computer icon, right click on the SANSA C140 icon and click format. Make sure it's Fat32 and Quick Format is Not selected. Then click format. This will take a few minutes. When it's done your mp3 player will be just like a usb drive; you're files will be read normally.

* if it's a voice recording you're trying to find, look under music and scroll down to Recordings. If it's not there then perform the above format.

Also it only reads mp3s and pictures (gifs, jpgs). Unfortunately the c140 doesn't play videos :(

Sansa c140 screen frozen

Try a "hard reset". Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to shut off. With the device off, press and hold the vol + and the center select button. Power it back on, see if that works. You can add to the question if you have more questions. Best of Luck.
