Horozontal balck line across the middle of the screen

My TV is showing a 7 inch horozontal balck line across the middle of the screen, it only shows when a DVD is played in a DVD player. Different cables have been used, we have connected the DVD player to different ports, we can play a DVD in the Xbox just fine.

Yes, I tried RGB and S cables and the line was still there. I do not have a HDMI cable to try.

This is also a brand new DVD player, we have used a known good DVD player and the line is still there as well

MY onn dvd player is showing black and white

Check your warranty. Call for support.
*** The following is for information only.***
* If your player and TV set was working prior to this then it's probably playing a black and white movie or the TV color setting is off and needs to be reset.
* For TV go to menu, Picture, Color set up. (Best to restore to factory settings as a starting point.)
* For DVD try a known "color' movie (at least something later than 1965) if it plays in color then the older disk is B&W.
* If someone pulled out the cable (Yellow, Red, and White) this is the Video (Yellow) and Audio Left-White, Audio Right-Red.
* Check this cord for damage and reconnect into corisponding color coded jacks. Note; this cord will not affect the "color of the set other than not show up at all - Blank screen if wrong plug inserted.
* Call TV support line (or DVD support) for advice.

Nothing on screen when DVD inputs are plugged into our Aquos.

Check that the input you are plugging the DVD into on the TV is actually selected as the TVs input. Try using a different input and also different input types/cables. Most DVD players will have HDMI and also either component or composite type outputs. Try the different cable type and make sure the TV is looking at the correct input. Do you have sound?

When playing a DVD, there are red and blue lines that show up on the screen. At first I thought it was a defective DVD but put another in and it showed up again.

The lines could have been caused by quite a couple of issues one could be a faulty lens from the player or the cables which are used in playing or even the screen. Try using a different screen to watch same DVD's if the problem persists then try replacing the cables for connecting to the screen and after that if it still persists then get an expert to check the lens of thee player.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

I have a Sony Bravia 52 inch HDTV that has a line down the middle of the picture in some shows, particularly when action is panning across a scene. Is this a common problem?

Check with a different CD or a different channel. Sometimes some,

secret codes are displayed to find the pirated CD. Any how check in different program channels. This is not TV problem.

If you have DVD try a similar action movies in CD and play to satisfy!

Dvd player plays dvd but the screen only shows lines & the audio is fine.

Sounds like your av cables may need to be replaced or the DVD is bad. Check that the cables are in the correct ports coming from the DVD player to your television and that the cablesd have also been placed in the correct postitions.

Good luck
