  • Check any accessories attached directly to the console to make sure that it is licensed and undamaged. Unlicensed or damaged accessories shouldn't be used with the console.
  • Try using a different wall outlet, or plug a different device into the outlet to make sure the outlet is providing power.
Perform an AC Adapter Reset. To perform an AC Adapter Reset follow these instructions: Unplug the Wii AC adapter at both ends (from the back of the Wii system and from the wall outlet or power strip).
  1. The AC adapter must remain unplugged at both ends for a full two minutes.
  2. Unplug anything connected to the USB ports and the Nintendo GameCube Controller ports (such as LAN Adapters, keyboards, Nintendo GameCube controllers, etc.).
  3. Check the AC Adapter for the following:
    • Make sure that the word "Wii" and the model number "RVL-002 (USA)" are molded into the AC adapter. Unlicensed products are not fully compatible and may not work correctly.
    • Check the AC Adapter for physical damage. Physical damage, such as frayed wiring or a cracked housing can cause the system to shut down. If the AC Adapter shows signs of physical damage and needs to be replaced, a replacement can be purchased from Nintendo's online store.
  4. After waiting two minutes, plug the AC adapter into the Wii system and directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector or power strip. If the power light comes on and stays on, then the AC Adapter reset was successful.

If these suggestions don't work try visiting Nintendo's help pages at: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/ts_system.jsp

My wii isnt working. It won't read any of my wii games. I just got a new game and I tried it and it wont play. I tried your troubleshooting and it didnt work. I turned it off, left it off for a bit,...

Hello there,

It wont read your discs simple because the lens could hardly read them because it is dirty and probably needs cleaning. Try running a disc cleaner and let it spin for like 30 seconds. Then try playing those discs again. If this does not work, then you might need to clean the lens manually by disassembling the wii, taking out the casing and cleaning the lens with a swab damped in an alcohol. Just gently wipe the swab on the lens surface in a circular manner and let it dry. Then put everything back and try playing those discs again.

By the way, this video might give you an idea how to disassemble the wii.

My wii remote wont turn on, i even tried a couple different new batteries but still no lights or anything

Have you tried syncing the Wii remotes? To sync, turn the Wii on, open the back of the remote and then press a red button that says "SYNC". Then open the SD card slot in the front of the Wii and press another red "SYNC" button. If you do this, your Wii remotes should be able to turn on.

If your Wii remotes still don't turn on, visit support.nintendo.com

Or call 1-800-255-3700 for assistance on your Wii.

Wont eject game disc

From a previous FixYa member:

"I managed to eject a WII disc out manually very easily:
- Disconnect the drive
- You see the white plastic mechanism on your right side and the wheel connected to the motor
- turn the wheel towards the back side of the drive while pushing the half inch square plastic piece towards the left.
You will see the disc coming out while you are turning the wheel."

Wii control

Try to reconnect your wii-motes, by using the red button on the wii underneath that front flap where you would put the SD card. and then the other red button on the controller where you put the batteries in. and make sure the batteries are fresh
