Epson stylus cx5400 all in one ink jet printer

My problem is with the color printing. it only prints in black. previous solutions were to clean the nozzle with cleaning kit. where do i get that from cheap or is there a cost less solution i could find at home?(i'm on a budget), also have you heard of the purge tube? if so what is it and do you think if it became disconected that could be my problem?

This unit has a built in cleaning routine. Also make sure you are using genuine HP OEM carts. You can also blot the cart jets with a damp bounty paper towel. Fold the damp towel to make it thick. Then just press it against the jets a few times to make sure a good flow of ink is blotting the towel. Then put it through a cleaning cycle.

I've changed the ink cartridge in my epsom printer but it wont print, what can i do

If you haven't printed a lot lately, your print head might clogged. Here's what you can do: go to "print", then "properties", then "maintenance", and find the option "head cleaning". You will hear strange sounds coming from inside your printer, nothing to worry about, the printer is just trying to push the ink through the print head. In the end, the printer will print 4 colors: black, yellow, magenta and cyan. If the colors seem ok to you, you have fixed your problem. If not, repeat the process several times (just bear in mind that cleaning the head uses a lot of ink).
Hope that helps, and if it doesn't, please let me know, would love to help find a solution to your problem!

Cleaning or replacing printhead / hose

Buy them at a official EPSON service center or throw away the printer and buy a HP.
Actual EPSON printers uses 5 ml ink cartridges for each color and black. HP printers has the same volume cartridges but there are only 2, tricolor and black.
If a HP printing head becomes clogged (don't worry, it almost never happens), just throw away the cartridge and install another (the print head comes with the ink cartridge). If a EPSON print head becomes clogged you have no other choice than buying another printer because EPSON's print heads are expensive and become discontinued 12 months after the printer model was launched to the market.

Also, HP Printers are cheaper than those from EPSON and offers excellent print quality on any paper. Compare a 10 years old HP printer with actual EPSON's and the HP has the sharpest black printing. The color is another story.

Epson stylus cx5400 reset???

try doing this :

Reclamping the Ink Cartridges

Once you start the ink cartridge reclamp procedure, you must complete all the steps in one session.

1. Make sure the EPSON Stylus CX5400 is turned on and not printing.

2. Press a MENU button until you see CHANGE CARTRIDGE, then press the COLOR COPY BUTTON. The ink cartridges will move to the replacement position.

3. Lift up the unit's cover, to access the ink cartridges.

4. Pinch the tabs on the front and back of the cartridge, and lift it out of the printer.

5. Lower the cartridge back into its holder, then press down on the top of the cartridge until it clicks in place.
Caution: Don't touch the green circuit board on the back of the cartridge, as you may inhibit normal operation and printing.

6. Carefully lower the scanner and press it down until it clicks into place. The EPSON Stylus CX5400 begins charging the ink delivery system.
The On light flashes and the EPSON Stylus CX5400 makes noise. Charging takes about 30 seconds. When it's finished, the On light stops flashing and stays on steady.
Caution: Never turn off the EPSON Stylus CX5400 while the On light is flashing, unless the Stylus CX5400 hasn't moved or made noise for more than 5 minutes.

if the issue still persists - you need to call the vendor - it´s a hardware issue

Hi-

Chances are the tubes are clog and you need to dismantle the printer to clean it, if you have tried cleaning the heads several times then nothing change. Might as well have it service or buy a new one, call epson customer service- 562 276 4382 or 1300 so that they will offer you the loyalty website and you can get a new epson printer, discounted in price.

Printing in black only

Are you using genuine Epson ink? Is it under a year old/ If so you have a warranty repair. Make sure you peeled off the tape from inks. Run a cleaning cycle. If still no color, you may need printheads. Not worth repairing.
