Softner still in the draw

I have a hotpoint WF640P washer and with any wash cycle the softner stays in the draw, i have cleaned the draw and took the top off the machine and cleaned all the top part of the draw compartment (where the internal pipes connect to) all the channels within the top part of the draw are ok and water flows through it ok but the softner still stays in the draw, any ideas Many thanks

many thanks for that, the dispenser draw is spotless all the cells flow water through them, not tested solenoids but have put the machine on a wash cycle and i heard clicking just before the water went through to the dispenser draw, there are 3 black pipes going to the draw 2 pipes connect to the cold fill and the 3rd one to the hot, i ran a cycle and felt the pipe as water went through them (all 3 at different times throughout the cycle) all seems ok, still the softner stays in the draw, the draw is spotless, no blockages anywhere, any further ideas?

    Thanks

will try a wash cycle and remove the draw after the main water intake and see what happens, thanks for your help so far.

have tried a another was cycle, no water goes to the softner draw, took it all apart again checked the softner draw all ok, all pipes clean solenoids ok ckecked them, the only thing i can think of is the programme is not swithching the water on at the correct time, maybe i need a new eprom or do you know how to do a factory reset on the machine, again many thanks for your help

Have now completed 4 more washes, softner still in the draw, all the cells in the draw are clear and clean, have tested the solenoids again and they are working fine, i am really confused about this machine, all was working fine until about 6 weeks ago then this problem occured, there is one more change as well, there are 5 lights on the front of my machine and as each part of the wash completes they would go off, now they stay on, for example, it would light up when doing the was cycle, then the light would go out and the rinse and spin light would go on, and so on, now when a part of the cycle has finished that light stays on and the next light then comes on, then the next light, this is what makes me think its a programmer problem.

Hold drawer under slow running tap. Run water through the hole where the blue softner insert goes. If the water comes out the bottom of the drawer. Its not blocked. Probably be the Cold inlet valve. Usualy has 2 connecters on it.

The detergent/softner dispenser is located above the detergent drawer. A water pipe is connected to it and water entrance and distribution to drawer's cells (following the programmed cycle)are done by a lever's movement (part of the dispenser). The lever movement is controlled by two solenoids that received their power from the timer. By opening upper machine's cover you will have an access to the dispenser. Disconnect the power cable from the machine before moving to next step !!!! Look first that they are not any disconnected wires. Move manually dispenser's lever and see if water running to all cells (depend on your movement). In case it doesn't work properly remove the unit from the machine and try to clean it (I hope it will help, otherwise you should replace the unit). In case it works properly (manually) - you should test with a multi-tester solenoid's resistance. the one that doesn't have a resistance measurement should be replaced. Good luck !!

Are you sure the softener's draw get water during machine's process ?

  • Anonymous Aug 06, 2007

It still sound to me as a solenoid or a clogged water's pass and not a programmer problem.

The bleach and softner dispenser does not work. The liquid softner would still be there at the end of the wash - never dispensed. I took out the dispenser and cleaned it, but no change. When I leave the...

Don't know if this is the answer, but my dispensers stayed filled also. repairman said the water wasn't flowing into the machine quickly enough and therefore not tripping the sensor that told the machine when to disburse the softener and/or bleach. He took the cold watersupply line loose, and the mesh was full of sediment. He said it wasn't necessary to replace the mesh. Sure enough, it started working immediately. He did the same for the hot water line..it wasn't clogged.

The fabric softner release has stopped working

Most likely the fabric soft dispenser is clogged . this happens when you wash alot in cold water the left over fabric softner get very pasty and can clog it up. You can try filling the dispenser with hot water and run a cycle with hot water this should unclog the dispenser .

My machaine no longer takes the softner when on rinse .

open the soap drawer when softener should be taken and see if there is a jet of water into the conditioner box. if not, a common cause is the jets in the roof of the box blocked. poke a hairpin in the holes in the roof of the box and see if this cures the problem. if the rinse water does come in, this means that the actual water valve is ok
