The LCD screen does not show any images.

When I first received my digital camera, I turned it on, configured the date and time, and was then left with a black screen and icons along the top and sides that show what functions are being used (red-eye, flash, etc.).

When I tried to take a still picture, no image would appear on the screen. However, when I turned to the menu options, I was able to choose what start up screen image I wanted. So, when I turned the camera off and then on again, I was able to see the image of the sunset and the mountain, which was the image I chose.

The symptoms you describe indicate you may have a CCD problem. You didn't state what model you have (you should always do that, you will get better answers). Canon has issued a service notice for several models listed here. If you have one of these models, and it is determined that this is the problem, Canon will repair the camera at no cost, regardless of warranty status. Contact your regional Canon service agency for guidance.

When opening the shutter no image comes up on the LCD screen. The date, remaining image details are still showing however. If a picture is taken, it comes up as a light green screen.

sir,
digital cameras have an image sensor called CCD or C-mos if the camera picture is having problems with color this part may be faulty.
the picture previously taken (before this fault happened) must be fair, if it also bad then there may be problem with LCD or the main board.

Displaying time and date when printing

The date/time cannot be deleted once it is embedded in the image. To turn off the date/time deselect the date/time stamping by following procedure:
These instructions explain how to insert the date in images.
attention:
  • The [Date Stamp] cannot be deleted from the image data once it has been recorded because the date is written in as an image.
  • When selecting [Date Stamp] , [Recording Pixels] is set to 1600 x 1200 pixels and the compression (image quality) to [Fine].
  • When the shooting mode is set to <Movie> (g0029623.gif), settings for inserting the date and time cannot be made.
  • The following explanations are provided based on the assumption that the [Shooting Mode] is set to <Program AE> (g0034813.gif).

Similar problems as other readers. camera turns on but no real time image on LCD screen. LCD contiues to show settings i.e. full auto mode etc. But I can view pictures already taken. Thanks

The XTi and prior EOS models have not capability to see the live image to be shoot on the screen. Only the image after taken can see on the screen. Other images also using the view mode.

If you can't review the images, eve if the display is turned off, just after they are taken, maybe the "Review time" is set to "off". Go to settings, 3th tab, Review time and set the desired setting.

Black screen on camcorder

I think you have two different issues here. The black screen may be due to a CCD failure. Canon has a worldwide service notice regarding this issue, and will repair your unit at no cost if they determine this is the problem (it sounds like it is).

The little red symbol indicates your backup battery (or date/time battery) CR1616 needs to be replaced. It is located behind a small square panel which you can see to the left of the menu buttons when you open the LCD panel.

Fuji F700

If you mean while you're trying to take a picture, one configuration option for the F700 is to turn off the LCD when taking pictures and use the view finder-- this saves battery power. If you press the DISP button to the right of the LCD should turn on.
.
To turn the LCD back on-- Press MENU/OK (you should see the SELF TIMER screen). Press RIGHT ARROW to select the SET option. Press UP ARROW to select the SETUP option. Press MENU/OK. You should see the SET-UP screen. Use the UP/DOWN Arrows to navigate the options; use the LEFT/RIGHT Arrows to cycle through the options. The IMAGE DISP and the LCD options control when the LCD is powered on.

Sony F55 Recorded Display

The filename (e.g. DSC0012.jpg) shows the image number, the filespec shows the date and time recorded. Most software will give you document info about resolution of the image. I wouldn't worry about what the battery status was when the shot was taken or how many other images were on the Mstick. I guess I'm not sure what you need.
