DONT ATTEMPT TO REPLACE THE TOP SCREEN ON THE DS LITE. It is easy to replace it on the original ds, But the ds lite requires you to re-soilder the 4 speaker cables into the top screen's video ribbon cable.

My daughters nintendo ds lite had the same problem. I ordered a new screen (+/- € 19) and replaced it. The only thing you need is a special tri wing screw driver and a soldering iron. I agree its tricky but if you are carefull it will go.

Nintendo won't fix it for free, no matter how new it is, they don't fix physical damage. Their warranty only covers internal stuff they caused (not water damage or shorting out either).

You can set up with Nintendo.com to have them fix it, it will cost $75.

You can buy replacement lcd panels on ebay for around 25 bucks and replace it yourself. you need a special tri-wing screw driver to open up the case too. youtube has a video on there showing how to take one apart.

Why does dslite have no power?

Make sure the ribbon cables or the screens are plugged in. one for each screen and one for the touch screen (i think the touch screen is the one thats causing your problem) its small and comes out easily. please wright back if it works

Ds lite comes on the top screen flashes then it switches off

It could also be a bad top screen due to a bad ribbon cable. If your hinge is cracked it could cause damage to the ribbon cable that passes through it, this shorts out the top screen and will shut the DS down

Top half dont work

Solution:

1. IF you have R4 card in your DS, take it out.

2. Go to Settings (Little icon on the bottom of the touch screen)

3. Select Pink button

4. Select "GBA Mode" (pink button on the right)

5. Select "Touch screen"

NOTE:

This is mainly affective for GBA games, not DS games unfortunately.
If you are really that desperate to play DS games properly, then either hope you can still claim it on warranty and/or buy a brand new DS (maybe even the new DSi).

Hope I helped

The clips of my nintendo ds are broken. I need to get them fixed

Ah, right, see if you can get it sent off for repairs at the shop you bought it from, i have dropped mine so many times and its never happened to me, if the shop wont have it find a repair shop the specializes in gaming consoles and soon enough it will be as good as new.

Nintendo ds lighing probs

Mommyturtle, i suggest that you send it in. This will ensure that you get your DS back without loss on your part. But, if you would like instructions on how to fix your unit (This will void any warranties on your unit), please email me at [email protected] and I will step you through it.

Vertical lines/"cracked line" on the top screen

absolutely! if you have experience with eBay, you can buy a new screen and install it yourself. If this isn't something you want to attempt there are many other repair services other than Nintendo which will charge you upwards of 80$. A new screen can be bought for less than half of that on eBay and installed somewhat easily.
